A week of clashes kills about 170 civilians and fighters in the Eastern Ghouta

 

The clashes continue for the 7th day in a row between the major factions of the Eastern Ghouta since its outbreak on the 28th of April 2017, where more civilians and fighters are killed every day due to the exchange of shelling and clashes in several areas, cities, towns and farms in the Eastern Ghouta, included Zamalka, Arabian, Hazza, Beit Sawa and the Farms of Aftries and Ashari and other areas between Rahman Corps and Hayyaat Tahrir al-Sham against Jaysh al-Islam, where these clashes increase the tragedy of the Eastern Ghouta and raise the suffering of its people, where hundreds of families have become trapped between both parties of the clash and near the clash areas.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights observed in the last 48 hours of the 1st week of these bloody clashes between the major factions of the Eastern Ghouta counter attacks by Rahman Corps and Hayyaat Tahrir al-Sham, which was able to advance and completely control Arbin city and the towns of Beit Sawa, Hazza and al-Muhammadiyah, and the farms of Ash’aari and Aftries and the outskirts of Zamalka city in the Eastern Ghouta, which were controlled by Jaysh al-Islam in the first 48 hours of the attack on areas controlled by Rahman Corps and Hayyaat Tahrir al-Sham.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored more casualties in the ranks of the battling parties and documented the rise of number of persons who were killed to 156 at least since the start of these clashes in the Eastern Ghouta, including about 67 fighters of Jaysh al-Islam, and among the total number of killed fighters there are 5 commanders at least, they are: the commander of the Military Service Body in Jaysh al-Islam, a commander in the first row of Rahman Corps, the commander of the al-Marj operations room and the 3rd Brigade of Jaysh al-Islam, the commander of the security detachment at Rahman Corps and the “security Amir” in Hayyaat Tahrir al- Sham in Arbin city, and the death toll is expected to rise because there are some persons in critical situation, also SOHR documented the death of 13 civilians including 2 children, also tens of civilians and fighters were injured in these battles.
