“Euphrates Wrath” operation forces continue their offensive for the 3rd consecutive day and advancement in more areas

“Euphrates Wrath” operation forces continue their offensive for the 3rd consecutive day since the dawn of the 12th of May 2017, seeking to advance more towards Al-Raqqah city, and reducing the size of the “Islamic State” organization’s controlled areas in the countryside of the city and its vicinity, which is considered the main stronghold of the “Islamic State” organization in Syria.

The violent clashes are still taking place between the Syria Democratic Forces and the Syrian Elite Forces supported by International Coalition’s warplanes and the US Special Forces against members of the “Islamic State” organization in areas at the northeast, north and northwest of Al-Raqqah city, and the forces “Euphrates Wrath” operation have reached about 4 km northeast of the city and about 8 km north p it and less than 13 km northwest of it, the clashes were accompanied by exchange of shelling and by airstrikes by the International Coalition and shelling on the “Islamic State” organization’s controlled areas, which killed civilians and confirmed information about casualties in the ranks of both parties.

And the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned that the Syria Democratic Forces were able to advance in 3 villages and farms in the northwestern countryside of Al-Raqqah, after the violent clashes that forced the members to withdraw from the area and retreat to other areas towards the city, amid continued attempts by the “Islamic State” organization to stop the advancement of the “Euphrates Wrath” Operation Forces,  while the northern countryside of Al-Raqqah has witnessed displacement of citizens of which the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights was able to observe and document, which included hundreds of citizens, who headed towards areas controlled by the Syria Democratic Forces and the Elite Forces in the northern countryside of Al-Raqqah.
