“Euphrates Wrath” Operation Forces start a new offensive on the Division 17 aiming to break the first northern line of defense of the stronghold of the “Islamic State” organization in Syria

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned from reliable sources that the Syria Democratic Forces and the US Special forces launched a new attack on the Division 17 north of Al-Raqqah city, after about 24 hours of the withdrawal of the “Euphrates Wrath” Operation forces from the inside of the Division 17 to its surroundings, as a result of the intense shelling by the “Islamic State” organization in addition to the strong fortifications the organization has set.

Reliable sources confirmed to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights that the new offensive by the “Euphrates Wrath” Operation Forces came with the aim of breaking the fortifications of the “Islamic State” organization and its first line of defense for Al-Raqqah city from the northern side, where violent clashes are taking place in conjunction with escalated shelling by the “Euphrates Wrath” Operation Forces and the International Coalition’s warplanes on the “Islamic State” organization’s controlled areas and its positions in the Division 17, in conjunction with the inspection process in al-Mashlab neighbourhood by the Syrian Elite Forces and the Syria Democratic forces, who took Full control of the neighborhood located at the eastern outskirts of Al-Raqqah city, while the clashes continue in the neighborhoods of al-Sabahiya and al-Romaniya, after the Syria Democratic Forces supported by the US Special Forces controlled half of al-Sabahiya neighbourhood and the southwestern part of al-Romaniya neighborhood at the western outskirts of Al-Raqqah city, and their control over parts of al-Jazrah suburb west of Al-Raqqah city near the northern banks of the Euphrates river, while SOHR received confirmed information about casualties in the ranks of the forces of the “Euphrates Wrath” operation during their first attack on the Division 17.
