21 days of bombing escalation on Al-Mayadin city kill more than 180 people, including about 150 children and females
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor monitored the International Coalition’s warplanes at 5:40 am on Sunday the 11th of June 2017 targeting Musbaq al-Suno area and a school in al-Bal’oum neighborhood in Al-Mayadin city in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, where they carried out 5 raids and caused the destruction of buildings and material damage to citizens’ property, but no information received about casualties.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned that these airstrikes come in the framework of continued escalation by the International Coalition’s warplanes on Al-Mayadin city, which is the capital of “al-Khair State” of the “Islamic State” organization, where it has the administrative and security centers and also the “Sharia” centers of the “Islamic State” organization, this escalation started on 22nd of May 2017, where Coalition’s warplanes have been consecutively targeting residential areas and buildings inhabited by families of fighters and members of the “Islamic State “organization, these airstrikes in 21 days of escalation since the 22nd of May until the 11th of June 2017 have killed at least 182 persons, in addition to about 20 members of the” Islamic State” organization in Al-Mayadin city, its outskirts and surroundings.
Among the total number of casualties there are 28 civilians, including 14 children and 8 women were killed in Al-Mayadin city during sporadic airstrikes, in addition to 154 persons from family members of the “Islamic State” organization of Syrian and Non-Syrian nationalities, including 68 children under the age of 16 and 57 woman over the age of 18, they were killed in targeting the municipal building and the Dahmoush building in Al-Mayadin city on the 25th and 26th of May 2017.
The escalation of the bombing is accompanied by a displacement movement of hundreds of families from Al-Mayadin city and other towns and cities in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor towards villages in its countryside, fearing new bombing by the International Coalition or that others parties may commit massacres against them, especially since Al-Mayadin city has received in the past months thousands of displaced families from Syrian areas controlled by the Organization, and from the Iraqi territory, including families from the organization.
