Regime forces control an oilfield and achieve a new advancement towards the last city of the “Islamic State” organization in Homs province

Homs province, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: the clashes continued until after midnight of yesterday between the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities against the “Islamic State” organization in the area of the Ark oilfield in the eastern countryside of Homs, on the road between the cities of Palmyra and Sokhna in the eastern desert of Homs, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned that the regime forces after their fiery control of the Ark oilfield have managed to achieve advancement and control the oilfield, advancing to the Sokhna city, which is the last city controlled by the “Islamic State” organization in Homs province, this advancement towards the Sokhna city comes after series of raids and airstrikes by Russian and regime warplanes and helicopters, and after shelling by the regime forces during the past days and weeks on Sokhna city, of which the first reason was the repeated failure of the regime forces to advance towards the city, which is considered the regime forces’ gate to reach the countryside of Deir Ezzor province.
