The attack on Jobar continues for the second day in a row and the regime forces intensify their shelling to move deeper into the neighborhood and into the outskirts of the eastern Ghouta
Clashes broke out again, with a violent pace, for the second day in a row at the eastern outskirts of the Capital, Damascus. The SOHR activists observed violent clashes taking place between the regime forces and their Syrian and non-Syrian allied militiamen on one hand and the fighters of Al-Rahman Legion on the other as part of the regime’s continued offensive on the area in an attempt to advance into Jobar neighborhood and to regain control over the areas they lost during the past months and years. Clashes were accompanied by five raids targeting areas in the neighborhood.
These clashes that are taking place in Jobar neighborhood coincide with renewed fighting between the regime forces and their allied militiamen on one hand and the Islamic factions on the other in areas in the vicinity of AlMotahalik AlJanobi (the Southern Bypass) and Ein Torma which is adjacent to Jobar neighborhood. There were also two raids carried out by the warplanes on Ein Torma this morning.
As the regime’ offensive continues for the second day in a row, the number of raids carried out by the warplanes on Jobar neighborhood and Ein Torma in the last 24 hours rose to 25 in conjunction with dozens of artillery and rocket shells. This offensive came after an escalated shelling on Jobar neighborhood, which is located at the eastern outskirts of the Capital. The SOHR activists observed that warplanes have executed at least 42 raids on areas in Jobar neighborhood, its surroundings and at the outskirts of the eastern Ghouta since Thursday the 15th of June 2017, the date which marks the start of the offensive on the neighborhood and its surroundings, till the day before yesterday. In addition, around 25 artillery and rocket shells and six missiles, believed to be ground-to-ground, were fired.
