the Syria Democratic Forces confirm the release of some 200 detainees by the internal security forces at the request of civilian councils of Al-Raqqah province and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights received a copy of a statement issued by the Syria Democratic Forces, in which it confirmed the release of about 100 Internal Security Forces detainees in al-Raqqa, based on “the callings of a number of the tribes’ dignitaries, al-Tabqa Civil Council, and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights”. The statement reads: “Our armed forces began their first operation from the southern countryside of Hasaka, and then from there to Menbej in the eastern countryside of Aleppo, and finally in the alleged capital of the terrorist organization of ISIS, where our armed forces launched the operation of the “Euphrates Wrath” on the 5th of October 2016, and after several stages of victories and liberation of large areas of the lands, and freeing tens of thousands of our people, our forces reached the outskirts of al-Raqqa city to liberate the city and save its people from the darkness, this operation is still ongoing and achieves successive victories.

The statement added: “During the ongoing clashes in the area, our forces had arrested, for security reasons, 90 persons who were related to the terrorist organization of ISIS, and after conducting investigation with them, it was found that these persons’ hands were not stained with blood, and they didn’t have official ties with the terrorist organization. On the occasion of the end of the holy month of Ramadan, the month of mercy and forgiveness, and the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, the Syria Democratic Forces announce releasing all of them, after they have pledged not to deal again with the organization of ISIS, and this announcement was made as a result of the callings of number of the tribes’ dignitaries, al-Tabqa Civil Council and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
