Violent clashes in Al-Raqqah city and the “Islamic State” organization spares no effort to regain control of  what it lost

Violent clashes are taking place between Syria Democratic Forces, whose the Kurdish People’s Protection Units are their main pillar, backed by the International Coalition’s warplanes against the “Islamic State” organization in al-Raqqa city, where the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned that the clashes are concentrated in al-Rumaila neighborhood and its outskirt in the northeastern part of the city, in an attempt by the “Euphrates Wrath” Operation Forces to advance and control the neighborhood and the sheep market and Friday Market ,which are adjacent to the neighborhood, and the clashes are accompanied by shelling of the International Coalition’s warplanes and an exchange of shelling between both parties, and confirmed information about human losses in the ranks of both parties.

In the same context, clashes are continuing between “Euphrates Wrath” Operation Forces against the “Islamic State” organization in areas west of al-Bareed neighborhood and the outskirts of Hutteen neighborhood and al-Qadisiyah neighborhood in the western part of the city. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned that the “Islamic State” organization is striving to regain control over the areas it lost, through carrying out counter attacks with bombed vehicles and infiltrator groups, and the organization also intended to fortify the city, deploy big number of snipers and intensely plant landmines and fortify the front lines with the advancing forces within the great battle of Al-Raqqa, which started on the 6th of June of 2017, with the aim of advancing and controlling the whole city of al-Raqqa, and expelling the “Islamic State” organization from it.
