Continued violent battles in Jobar, east Damascus and in areas at the outskirts of the Ghouta and Al-Marj area
Violent battles continue between Al-Rahman Corps on one hand and the regime forces and their allied militiamen on the other in Ein Tarma in the Eastern Ghouta and at the outskirts of Jobar neighborhood in the vicinity of Damascus. Battles were accompanied by intensive shelling by the regime forces on the areas of clashes, in a renewed attempt by the regime forces to advance into and take control of new areas in the Eastern Ghouta and Jobar neighborhood. The SOHR published yesterday that the number of airstrikes carried out by warplanes since yesterday’s morning on areas in Jobar neighborhood near the outskirts of the capital, and other areas in the vicinity of Ein Tarma town and Zamalka city in the Eastern Ghouta, rose to at least 20, amid heavy shelling by the regime forces on the same areas, in conjunction with continued clashes between the regime forces and their allied militiamen against the Islamic and rebel factions in areas in Jobar neighborhood.
The regime forces managed two day ago to advance again in the area of Ein Tarma in the western outskirts of the Eastern Ghouta, where the regime forces controlled a block of about 10 houses near Ein Tarma from the side of AlMotahalik AlJanobi (the Southern Bypass), where clashes continue at a violent pace between them in an attempt by Al-Rahman Corps to regain control over the area. The clashes were accompanied by heavy shelling by the regime forces and an exchange of targeting between both sides.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights also published about four days ago that the regime forces managed to take control of a driving school near Ein Tarma town, amid several attempts by the regime forces to advance more in the area and by the factions to regain control over the area.
The clashes in Ein Tarma Valley and in the vicinity of Ein Tarma town came in conjunction with clashes in Jobar neighborhood, in an attempt by the regime forces to end the presence of the factions in Jobar neighborhood, by turning around the west of Jobar neighborhood and forcing the factions to withdraw from the neighborhood, by advancing through Ein Tarma Valley and on AlMotahalik AlJanobi (the Southern Bypass) that separates Ein Tarma and Jobar, east of Damascus, from its Eastern Ghouta. The regime forces are also seeking to tighten the siege on the Eastern Ghouta, which has been besieged since 2013.
