Explosions by unidentified perpetrators continue to target areas in Idlib Province

Idlib Province, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: an explosive device went off after midnight on the road connecting the towns of Hazarin and Ras al-Ma’asara in the southwestern countryside of Idlib Province. No casualties were reported. The SOHR published last night that an explosion was heard on Salqeen road near Idlib city as a result of the explosion of an explosive device northwest of the city on the road leading to Salqeen. No casualties were reported. The SOHR also published the night before yesterday that 9 persons were killed in a bombing that targeted a Sharia (Islamic Jurisprudence) Institute affiliated with Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham in Al-Quneitra area, near Hafsarjeh town in the northwestern countryside of Idlib. Casualties included 5 “Sharia” commanders of Syrian, Algerian, Egyptian, Libyan and Gulf nationalities, and the rest are students at the institute. The explosion, which is most likely caused by a booby-trapped vehicle, also left several injuries. The number of fatalities is still likely to rise because of the critical condition of some of the injured and information about more deaths were reported.

It is worth mentioning that Idlib city and several areas in its countryside have been targeted by a series of bombings during the last two weeks. The SOHR has documented, since the 27th of June 2017, the death of 8 elements of Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham, who were targeted with a booby-trapped motorcycle that went off near their car, while travelling in Ein Al-Zarqa area, near Darkoush on their way to swim there. The SOHR also documented on the 24th of June, the death of 12 persons, including 3 children below the age of 18 as a result of the explosion of a booby-trapped car that targeted a market in Al-Dana town, in the northern countryside of Idlib city, near  Iskenderun. There was also another explosion that targeted the same town.
