The shelling was accompanied by an increase in the number of barrel bombs dropped by helicopters to 16 at least, targeting places in the town and other areas in Al-Zabayir village in Al-Lajat causing the death of a female citizen and several injuries.

The SOHR published this morning that calm prevails since the dawn of today, Saturday the 8th of July 2017 in Daraa province, with the exception of the fall of several shells launched by the regime forces on the village of Ayib in Al-Lajat area in the northern countryside of Daraa. 8 barrel bombs were also dropped by helicopters on the same village, while a shell targeted Al-Mal village in the northwestern countryside of Daraa. This calm came about 24 hours before the announcement of carrying out a regional – international truce in the South of Syrian, which includes the provinces of Al-Suwaidaa, Daraa and Al-Quneitra. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published after midnight that an American – Russian – Jordanian ceasefire agreement in southern Syria is expected to be implemented on Sunday the 9th of July 2017. Reliable sources confirmed that the agreement includes the provinces of Daraa, Al-Suwaidaa and Al-Quneitra, which have witnessed in the recent weeks violent clashes between the factions active there and the regime forces and their allied militiamen.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned that the agreement, which includes the provinces of the Syrian south, aims at achieving a “lasting de-escalation in the Syrian south and suspending hostilities”, and is based on a ceasefire on the contact lines between the factions and the regime forces and their allied militiamen, the withdrawal of the regime forces and their allied militiamen from these contact lines to barracks of the regime, preparing areas for the return of refugees from Jordan to the Syrian south, and delivering humanitarian assistance to the areas which show commitment to the ceasefire.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published on the 17th of June 2017, that a Russian-American-Jordanian truce started to be implemented in Daraa province, and it was extended to the 20th June 2017, but it was ended as a result of the renewed aerial and artillery shelling by the regime forces and their allied militiamen and the helicopters and warplanes.
