A violent explosion on the 12th of July 2017 shook the vicinity of Idlib city, and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned that the explosion was caused by a booby trapped vehicle that targeted the textile factory where fighters of Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham were located, and several reliable sources confirmed to the Observatory that the explosion caused casualties, where at least 8 fighters were killed and more than 18 others were injured with varying severity, and the death toll is expected to rise because there are some people in critical situation.

This explosion came after renewed raids by Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham for homes and sites of people who were accused of being “sleeper cells for the Islamic State organization”, where tens of persons have been arrested since Wednesday morning, and the Syrian Observatory has published that Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham carried out at dawn raids and arrests in Wadi Khaled area west of Idlib city against what it called “sleeper cells of the Islamic State organization”, where several persons were arrested and taken to an unknown destination, also the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published yesterday that tension prevails Jisr Al-Shughur city, after an attack of which local source told the Syrian Human Rights Observatory that members of Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham carried it out him on a Civil Defense Center in the city, following the Civil Defense members’ failure to deliver engineering vehicles and other vehicles to Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham, which the also mentioned had requested from the Civil Defense Center in Jisr Al-Shughur city. the attack was accompanied by gunfire in the area, while the residents confirmed to the Observatory that the Islamic movement of Ahrar Al-Sham and the Islamic Turkestan Party have intervened to mediate and resolve the dispute between both parties. no information about casualties.

It is noteworthy that the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published that tension continues to prevail Idlib city and its eastern countryside, after raids carried out by Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham in the city and in Sarmin town in its eastern countryside, on the pretext of searching for “sleeper cells of the Islamic State organization”, where tens of members of Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham raided houses and HQs, after which tens of persons were arrested and taken by members of Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham to an unknown destination, and reliable sources confirmed to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights that the raids were carried out in conjunction with gunfire, while local parties accused Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham of trying to “show itself as the only party able to maintain security in Idlib province”, while raids took place in other areas where Hayyaat Tahrir al-Sham is located.
