Airstrikes target Al-Raqqah city cause more human losses with the continued fight in its areas
Al-Raqqah Province, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: 3 citizens including two displaced persons were killed, as a result of shelling by “Euphrates Wrath” Operation Forces and bombing by the International Coalition on areas controlled by the “Islamic State” organization, in conjunction with continued violent clashes between the Syria Democratic Forces against members of the “Islamic State” organization in areas in the neighbourhood of Hisham bin Abdul Malik and other areas in the old City, and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published hours ago thatseveral reliable sources confirmed for the Syrian Observatory that the Syria Democratic forces supported by bombing by the International Coalition warplanes; managed to achieve a new advancement and to completely control the neighbourhood of Nazlat Shhada and started sweeping in the areas which they advanced to, and by this advancement they reduced the distance between them and their forces located in Hisham bin Abdul Malik neighborhood, in conjunction with the advancement of these forces in the neighbourhood of Hisham bin Abdul Malik and controlling more sites in it, and if both forces coming from the east and west of the city were able to advance and meeting, they will have taken control of the entire southern section of Al-Raqqah city, tightening the noose on the “Islamic State” organization inside the city.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights also monitored the attempt of the Syria Democratic Forces to control the Cultural Centre and enter to the center of the capital of “Islamic State” organization, and reduce the size of areas controlled by it in its main stronghold, also the violent clashes are accompanied by intense bombardment by the International Coalition warplanes and by shelling by the “Euphrates Wrath” Operation Forces, amid clashes in other areas in the city in the old City and in Bareed al-Dar’eiyah neighborhood, and confirmed information about human losses as a result the incessant bombing and clashes between both parties.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights also documented the death of 807 fighters in airstrikes of the international coalition’s warplanes, the intensive shelling on the city of Al-Raqqa and its outskirts, and the military operations in the city which included shelling, bombardment, and clashes with the “Euphrates Wrath” Operation Forces, which are composed of the Syria Democratic forces and Syrian Elite Forces and the US Special Forces backed by the Coalition’s warplanes, since the beginning of the grand battle of al-Raqqa on the 6th of July 2017 until the 31st of July 2017, where at least 551 members of the “Islamic State” organization, including local leaders and group leaders, and there is confirmed information about other members got killed and tens of them were also injured.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights in the same period documented the death of 256 fighters of “Euphrates Wrath” Operation Forces, including 2 fighters of the Syrian Elite and 4 fighters of American, Georgian and British nationalities, while the rest are fighters of the Syria Democratic Forces, whose the YPG is its main pillar, and fighters of Manbij Military Council, who were killed in bombardments and bombings and during clashes with the “Islamic State” organization in the city of al-Raqqa and the southern banks of the Euphrates River.
