The Syrian south witnesses escalating violations in the recent days with the ongoing Russian – American – Jordanian agreement in the three province
The Syrian south truce is still ongoing since it was entered into forces on the 9th of July 2017, under Russian – American – Jordanian agreement, with an escalation in the violation in the recent days, where the cautious calm has been prevailing in the Syrian south since midnight of Sunday – Monday, that was interrupted by a fall of a shell today’s morning on al-Hodr town, which is controlled by the regime forces in the northern sector of the countryside of Quneitra, where the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights documented a new violation, where the regime forces shelled places in Daraa al-Balad in Daraa city, and the SOHR documented several breaches yesterday, where the regime forces shelled and targeted with heavy machines guns places in al-Hamidiyya and Ofanya towns in the countryside of Quneitra and Western al-Gharya and al-Tiha towns in the countryside of Daraa.
The SOHR published on Saturday 5th of August that the Syrian South truce is still ongoing since its implementation on the 9th of July 2017, where the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights documented new breaches of the Russian-American-Jordanian agreement implemented in the provinces of Daraa, Quneitra and Suwaidaa, as the regime forces targeted with several shells places in the town of Jebbata al-Khashab in the northern countryside of Quneitra, and the factions also targeted with several shells this morning areas in the town of Hodr which is controlled by the regime forces in the northern sector of the countryside of Quneitra, and no information about causalities so far, the regime forces also targeted with heavy machine guns areas in the outskirts of the town of al-Naemeh in the eastern countryside of Daraa, and no information about injuries.
The Syrian South truce had an items which provided for the deployment of Russian military police forces to the cease-fire zones in the three provinces included in the agreement to monitor the ceasefire and the truce implementation, in addition to the withdrawal of the regime forces and their allied militiamen and the rebel and Islamic factions from contact lines in all areas, the deployment of the regime’s internal security forces in these lines whereas the rebel and Islamic factions participating in the agreement will be assigned the task of protecting all public and private establishments. In addition, it stipulates the departure of all those unwilling to participate in the agreement, the full withdrawal of the regime’s allied militiamen – of non-Syrian nationalities, preparation of the infrastructure necessary for the return of refugees from Jordan successively, holding municipal elections and granting municipalities broad powers, and finally the delivery of humanitarian aid to the areas that abide by the ceasefire. The SOHR had also published on the 17th of June 2017 that a Russian-American-Jordanian truce was put into effect in Daraa Province and was extended till the 20th of June but came to an end as a result of the renewed aerial and artillery shelling by the regime forces and their allied militiamen, helicopters and warplanes.
