Rif Dimashq province – The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights:: warplanes shelled places in Ruwaished camp area in the Syrian desert, south of Rif Dimashq, and there are no information about casualties so far, while clashes are still taking place between the regime forces supported by their allied militiamen of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities against the forces of Ahmad al-Abdu and Jaish Usud al-Sharqiya in areas in the southeast of Rif Dimashq, in an attempt by the regime forces to achieve more advancement, after they were able to advance in the last 24 hours and end the presence of the factions on the borders of Suwaidaa province with Jordan

The SOHR published Thursday morning the 10 of August 2017 that the desert of Suwaidaa witnessed violent clashes between the regime forces and their allies of Syrian and non-Syrian militiamen on one hand and the forces of Ahmad al-Abdu and Jaish Usud al-Sharqiya on the other in areas located in the northeastern countryside of al-Suwaidaa. The SOHR learned that the regime forces were able to achieve significant advancement in the area and control border area, and thus ending the presence of the factions on the Syrian – Jordanian borders inside the administrative border of the province of Suwaidaa. The clashes were accompanied by an exchange of shelling between both sides and airstrikes on the clash area, and there is information about casualties.

With this advancement, the factions don’t have border exits in the east and southeast of Syria, except for a border line on the border of the southeast of Rif Dimashq with Jordan, in addition to a border exit with Iraq, extending in the province of Rif Dimashq and Homs, which include a border crossing (Al-Tanf crossing) linking Syria and Iraq.

This advancement came after a continued and violent attack by the regime forces about a month ago, after less than 48 hours of the start of the Syrian South truce, of which the factions operating in the countryside of Suwaidaa said that no one has informed them of the agreement and its terms, which has been reached under Russian-American-Jordanian consensus and entered into force on the 9th of July 2017, in the provinces of Suwaidaa, Quneitra and Daraa.
