The regime forces continue the operation of separating the Syrian Desert and control one of the most important oil and gas fields; a few kilometers separate them from Al-Kom
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned that violent clashes continued between the members of the “Islamic State” organization on one hand, and the regime forces and gunmen loyal to them of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities on the other, in areas in the Syrian Desert, following the continuous attack by the advanced forces of the regime from Athrayya front in the north-eastern countryside of Hama, where the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights documented that the regime forces managed to achieve more advancement at the expense of the organization and reduce the size of its control in the Syrian Desert within the provinces of Hama and Homs, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned that the regime forces managed to achieve important advancement in the area and control Twinan gas field, which is one of the important fields, and Twinan station and Twinan gas laboratory and nearby Al-Akram field, and other fields in the vicinity of the area, thus, the regime forces advance to the north towards Al-Kom area where the regime forces managed during the past 24 hours to increase the size of their control in its vicinity and control Tal Al-Asfar and Dhour Al-Mamlaha, it’s about 27 km are separating the regime forces existing in the fields of Twinan and Al-Akram and separating them from meeting the advanced forces from the area of Al-Kom, thus, they will be able to regain the control on the remaining kilometers in the north of this line of advancement, within the operation of separating the Desert and trying to end the existence of the organization there.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published hours ago that the regime forces, after advancing within the past 24 hours in areas south of Ithriyah and going deep into the borders of Hama with Homs province, near Sha’er Mountain in the eastern desert of Homs, managed to achieve a new strategic advancement and managed to meet their forces coming from Sha’er Mountain, and hence the regime forces were able to impose the first siege on the “Islamic State” organization in the Syrian Desert, and encircled about an area of 3 thousand kilometer square controlled by the organization that includes about 50 village and several oil and gas fields and wells, this area is extending from the fronts of Jub al-Jerah and al-Shumariya Mountain, which is about 50 km square away from Homs city to the fronts of the countryside of the western and northwest countryside of Salmiyah and Sha’er Mountain front. This encirclement comes within the greatest encirclement the regime forces are trying to implement which would besiege the organization in area of 7800 controlled by the organization in the Syrian desert in the provinces of Homs and Hama, and if the regime forces managed to advance in an area of about 25 km which is the remaining distance between their forces coming from al-Kom area in the far northeast of Homs province, and the forces stationed in the north of al-Sukhnah, and the advancement operation is accompanied with continued clashes that have been taking place since days between the regime force backed by militiamen loyal to then against members of the “Islamic State” organization in areas in the eastern countryside of Salmiyah in the eastern countryside of Hama, in which the regime forces managed to advance within the past 48 hours in hills and positions of the organization in the areas of Dakila and Salba.
Also the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published on the 16th of August 2017 that the regime forces managed to achieve advancement and take control of a number of areas, villages and highlands, up to the area of Al-Fasedah, The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned that the clashes are taking place in an attempt by the regime forces to keep their positions, and fortify them against the attacks by the organization, which aims to regain control of these areas it lost, while the regime forces seek to reach the area of Jabal Sha’ir and Twenan Field, and carrying out operations of cutting, wrapping and encirclement in the areas, within a large operation of encirclement aimed by the organization through the continuous clashes in the area of Al-Kum and the north of Al-Sukhnah city, where there is a remainder distance of less than 25 km and it separates the regime forces to meet in these two areas “Al-Kum and Al-Sukhnah ” opposite to each other.
