Airstrikes target the southern banks of the Euphrates River along with violent clashes in areas in the eastern countryside of al-Raqqa
Al-Raqqa province – The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights:: The southern banks of the Euphrates River in the eastern countryside of the city of al-Raqqa is witnessing ongoing military operations in the area in an attempt by the regime forces to advance in the area. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned that violent clashes are taking place between the regime forces supported by their allied militiamen of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities against members of the “Islamic State” organization in areas located in the area extending from the east of Ghanim al-Ali to the west of the city of Ma’adan, which was restored by the organization during the past week, following a rebel attack in the area. The clashes are accompanied by violent and heavy shelling by the regime forces on the clash areas and the organization-held areas, amid raids of warplanes that targeted areas in the town of Ma’adan in the eastern countryside of al-Raqqa, and there is no information about injuries.
