The Russians and the regime forces fight desperately to control Deir Ezzor – Al-Sukhnah road and open the way for the convoys of human aid to enter Deir Ezzor city

Deir Ezzor Province – The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: The road between Al-Sukhnah and Deir Ezzor city is witnessing intensive shelling by missiles and artillery shells by the regime forces and gunmen loyal to them, amid dozens of raids carried out by warplanes and helicopters on this road, in the area extended from Kabajeb to Al-Shawla and reaches the southern entrance of Deir Ezzor at Panorama roundabout in the western outskirts of Deir Ezzor city, amid clashes between the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities with the participation of Russian forces on one hand, and the members of the “Islamic State” organization on the other, in areas in the vicinity of the road and near Kabajeb area, in an attempt by the regime forces supported by a cover of intensive aerial and ground shelling to achieve more advancement, while reliable sources confirmed to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights that the regime prepared convoys of human, food and medical aid to enter them to Deir Ezzor city, after securing the road connecting between Kabajeb and Panorama roundabout, passing through Al-Shawla area, and to control it by the regime forces, the reliable sources also confirmed to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights that the regime forces continue to secure the gap that reaches the Brigade 137, by trying to keep the organization away from it, and continue the mine removing process, while the clashed renewed in Deir Ezzor city, between the regime forces and gunmen loyal to them on one hand, and the members of the “Islamic State” organization on the other, in areas in Al-Hawikyah and Al-Rashdyah neighborhoods, amid clashes between the both parties, in Al-Maqaber area

And the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published on Wednesday that the vicinity of Deir Ezzor and its western desert are still witnessing violent clashes between the regime forces backed by their allied militiamen of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities against members of the “Islamic State” organization, amid sounds of explosions in the area. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned that the regime forces have not yet fully succeeded in restoring the gap through which that they managed to reach Brigade 137 in the vicinity of Deir Ezzor, where the regime’s operations to secure the corridor is still ongoing, in order to allow the humanitarian aid trucks to go through the dirt roads towards the largest besieged area in the northwestern part of Deir Ezzor city, which is linked to Brigade 137, after the area has been violently being attacked since Tuesday evening until Wednesday dawn, in which the organization managed to block the gap by fire.

These operations, taking place in the vicinity of Brigade 137, along with the repel attacks of ISIS on the regime forces’ positions in Kabajeb area on the road of Damascus – Sukhnah – Deir Ezzor in the western desert of Deir Ezzor, are still ongoing in conjunction with the attempts of the regime forces to expand their areas of control on the road, as the regime forces are working on securing the road through expanding their areas of control in the vicinity of the road, with their attempts to control and advance to Panorama roundabout in order to open the road of Deir Ezoor- Sukhnah and allow the humanitarian, food, medical convoys to enter to the regime-held areas in the city.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights also published on Wednesday that the regime forces managed to reopen the passage, ISIS had closed after targeting it with fire, by means of a violent attack they have carried out from 8:00 pm yesterday, 5th of September 2015 till dawn today. The SOHR observed intensive shelling by the regime forces and warplanes on areas of clashes in conjunction with an exchange of targeting. ISIS, on the other hand, blew up at least 6 booby-trapped cars targeting regime’s positions in the vicinity of Brigade 137 and in the vicinity of the gap created.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published last night that the “Islamic State” organization was able to control by firearm the gap which was opened by the regime forces between their advancing forces and their besieged ones in the Brigade 137 on Tuesday afternoon, the 5th of September 2017, and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned that ISIS continues its firearm control of the gab mentioned above, thus, it paralyzes the regime forces from crossing to the Brigade 137, while the regime forces supported by militiamen loyal to them of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities and by the Russian warplanes fight desperately to retake the control of the gab and reopen it, while the number of booby trapped vehicles exploded by ISIS has increased to 6 vehicles at least till now, targeted the positions of the regime forces in the area of the gab and the vicinity of the Brigade, amid violent fighting between the both parties, and confirmed information about casualties in the ranks of the both parties, where the “Islamic State” organization started a violent counter attack in the sunset of Tuesday the 5th of September 2017, targeted the gap which was opened by the regime forces in the middle of the minefield in the Brigade 137, where groups of the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them managed to cross through it, to the Brigade 137 area, which has been besieged for more than 32 months, and where they managed to achieved the first step to lift the siege of the besieged area in the north-western section of Deir Ezzor city, which includes the Brigade 137, an which is connected with Jam’eyyat Al-Zohur, Al-Jorah and Al-Qosur neighborhoods and a part of Al-Rashideen and Al-Hwiqa neighborhoods, and parts of Al-Jabilah and Al-Mowazzafin neighborhoods.

Reliable sources confirmed to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights that the “Islamic State” organization started its attack by exploding 4 booby trapped vehicles targeted the regime forces in the area of the gap which is connecting between the advanced forces and the brigade 137, amid an attack by intruders and groups of ISIS members, where the clashes are taking place between them on one hand, and the members of the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities on the other, accompanied by intensive shelling by the organization and violent shelling by the regime forces, in an attempt to prevent the organization from re-blocking the gap and imposing the siege again over the north-western area of Deir Ezzor city, and confirmed information about the death and the injury of members of the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them in this attack, in addition to the death of members of the organization in this attack, and sources confirmed to the SOHR that the gap which the regime forces crossed to the Brigade 137 is no longer safe after observing snipers and members of the “Islamic State” organization.
