After controlling oil fields and wells … The regime forces become about 4 km away from Deir Ezzor Military Airport amid collapse in the ranks of ISIS

On their way to lift the siege of Deir Ezzor city… The regime forces are working to besiege the organization inside the city and control the road of the capital of “Al-Khair State”

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has learned that the violent clashes are still continuing since the afternoon of Friday the 8th of September 2017, between the regime forces supported by militiamen loyal to them of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities on one hand, and the “Islamic State” organization on the other, in areas in the outskirts of Deir Ezzor city, and its western desert, where the regime forces continue their violent attack on the area extended between the two besieged blocs in the south-east and south-west of Deir Ezzor city, in an attempt by the regime forces to achieve advancement in the area, and to reach to Deir Ezzor Military Airport, which has been besieged since the beginning of 2017, as a result of a violent attack, which enabled the organization to impose another siege inside the siege which has been imposed since the beginning of 2015, and the regime forces managed yesterday to take the control of hills in the area mentioned above, in addition to the imposing their firearm control over this area which is located between the airport and the south-west bloc which contains neighborhoods controlled by the regime forces and related to the Brigade 137

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned that this violent fighting was accompanied by violent clashes in the western desert of Deir Ezzor, which enabled the regime forces with a cover of intensive Russian bombing and of artillery and rocket shelling by the regime forces to achieve advancement in second area towards the Deir Ezzor Military Airport, after taking the control over Al-Teem oil field, and after taking the control of this field and its oil wells, these forces became 4 km away from the besieged Deir Ezzor Military Airport, they also controlled the road between Deir Ezzor city and Al-Mayadin city which is located in its eastern countryside, thus, Jabal Al-Thardah separates the regime forces and the airport, while the Russian planes are escalating their shelling to secure the firearm cover for the advancement of the ground forces, and there was confirmed information about more casualties and injuries in the ranks of the both parties, while the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned that the regime forces is working to carry out an attempt to encircle Deir Ezzor city through advancing from the south-east of the airport and reaching to the road of Aleppo – Deir Ezzor – Al-Bokamal, and the western banks of the Euphrates River, to impose a siege on the organization inside the city, which the organization controls more than half of its area, where the west of Deir Ezzor is witnessing collapse in the ranks of the members of the organization, amid continuous attempts by the regime forces to cut all the ways to prevents supplies to enter Deir Ezzor city, and to prevent ISIS to bring military reinforcements from Al-Mayadin city, which is the capital of the “Al-Khair State”, and the violent clashes since the battle of lifting the siege of the airport which started in the afternoon of Friday until now, resulted in the death of more than 62 members of ISIS and the injury of tens others with varying degrees of severity, and information about confirmed casualties in the ranks of the regime forces and the militiamen loyal to them of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities.

It is important to mention that the “Islamic State” organization managed to control Jabal al-Thardah in the beginning of the second half of September 2016, after bombing by the International Coalition warplanes, targeted the regime forces in Jabal al-Thardah which is overlooking Deir Ezzor Military Airport, in which more than 90 members of the regime forces were killed and tens others were injured with varying degrees of severity, followed by a violent attack by the organization enabled it to take the control of this mountain, which witnessed during the period before this attack, a number of attempts by the organization to control it without being able to achieve this.
