The regime forces and their allied forces are hundreds meters away from the western countryside of Deir Ezzor city with the aim to open the main road of the city

About 80 members of the regime forces and ISIS were killed in clashes aimed at breaking the siege of Deir Ezzor Military Airport

Sounds of violent explosions are still heard in the city of Deir Ezzor, which ISIS controls more than half of its area, as a result of heavy and violent shelling by the regime forces on the organization’s controlled areas and positions around the city and its outskirts, in conjunction with airstrikes carried out by Russian and the regime’s warplanes and helicopters that targeted the same areas, in the cemetery area and other areas in the vicinity of the city of Deir Ezzor. This ground and aerial bombardment coincides with ongoing violent clashes between the regime forces and their allied militiamen of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities against members of ISIS in areas located in the cemetery area extending between the block of Deir Ezzor Military Airport and the block of Regiment 137 and the neighborhoods linked to both of them, where the regime forces are trying to lift the siege on Deir Ezzor Military Airport, through advancing in the cemetery area and the mountain overlooking the city of Deir Ezzor, which the organization managed to control at the beginning of 2017, and the regime forces managed last night to control the area by firearm.

These violent clashes coincide with the regime forces’ ongoing attempts to carry out a complete encirclement of the city of Deir Ezzor and reach the road of Aleppo – Al-Bukamal and the western banks of the Euphrates River, aiming at the siege of the organization of the “Islamic State” inside the city, which besieged areas of control of the regime forces. A convoy of humanitarian aid is expected to enter the city of Deir Ezzor, in conjunction with the arrival of more aid convoys to the vicinity of the city, in an anticipation of breaking up the siege on the city from a new area, which is the main road of Deir Ezzor – Sukhnah – Damascus, which is the main road of the city of Deir Ezzor, as the regime forces managed to achieve an advancement on this road and became hundreds meters away from the Panorama roundabout in the western entrance of the city, and the regime forces are expected to impose their control over the area in the upcoming hours, as a result of violent clashes in the area and the artillery and missile and aerial heavy shelling on the clash areas and organization sites.

This continued clashes to break the siege on the Military Airport of Deir Ezzor caused more human loses in the ranks of both parties, where the SOHR documented that it rose to 76, the number of members of both parties, who were killed in the battles of the area of the cemetery and the vicinity of the city of Deir Ezzor, where the SOHR documented the death of at least 14 members of the regime forces and their allied militiamen and 62 members of the organization who were killed in shelling, bombing and clashes.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned that this violent fighting was accompanied by violent clashes in the western desert of Deir Ezzor, which enabled the regime forces with a cover of intensive Russian bombing and of artillery and rocket shelling by the regime forces to achieve advancement in second area towards the Deir Ezzor Military Airport, after taking the control over Al-Teem oil field, and after taking the control of this field and its oil wells, these forces became 4 km away from the besieged Deir Ezzor Military Airport, they also controlled the road between Deir Ezzor city and Al-Mayadin city which is located in its eastern countryside, thus, Jabal Al-Thardah separates the regime forces and the airport, while the Russian planes are escalating their shelling to secure the firearm cover for the advancement of the ground forces, and there was confirmed information about more casualties and injuries in the ranks of the both parties, while the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned that the regime forces is working to carry out an attempt to encircle Deir Ezzor city through advancing from the south-east of the airport and reaching to the road of Aleppo – Deir Ezzor – Al-Bokamal, and the western banks of the Euphrates River, to impose a siege on the organization inside the city, which the organization controls more than half of its area, where the west of Deir Ezzor is witnessing collapse in the ranks of the members of the organization, amid continuous attempts by the regime forces to cut all the ways to prevents supplies to enter Deir Ezzor city, and to prevent ISIS to bring military reinforcements from Al-Mayadin city, which is the capital of the “Al-Khair State”.
