Hundreds of meters under firearm control separate the regime forces from breaking the siege of Deir Ezzor military base and a similar distance separate them from imposing the main road of the city
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has learned that violent clashes are still ongoing between the regime forces and their allied militiamen of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities, with the participation of the Russian Special Forces against members of ISIS in areas in the outskirts of the city of Raqqa and Deir Ezzor and its vicinity, where the clashes are taking place on 3 fronts consequently and the first front located in the area of the cemetery. The SOHR monitored the continued violent clashes between both parties, where the regime forces managed to achieve advancement in the area in the area of the airport and the cemetery area. They became less than 500 meters away from the regime forces advancing from the block of Regiment 137 and between the military base of Deir Ezzor which is besieged with the neighborhood of Harbesh and al-Tahtouh and the outskirts of the neighborhood of al-Resafa, while the regime forces managed to control by firearm, while the organization attempted to advance repel the regime forces and stop them from reaching the military base of Deir Ezzor besieged since the beginning of 2017.
While the violent clashes are still taking place between the regime forces supported by allied militiamen with the participation of the Russian forces against members of ISIS and the participation of Russian forces in areas in the western entrance of Deir Ezzor, where hundreds of meters separate the advancing regime forces and their positions stationed near the Panorama roundabout, where the regime forces continue their advancement in the area, amid their control on the oilfield of al-Mazri’a and the hills surrounding the road, while the third front (al-Taym oilfield and west of Deir Ezzor military base) is witnessing fierce battles between both parties, following the attacks carried out by the organization on the area of the road of Deir Ezzor – al-Mayadeen and al-Taym oilfield, in an attempt by the organization to stop the advancement of the regime forces and restore control of the strategic road that links the city of Deir Ezzor in the capital of “Wilayat al-Khair” and the oilfield of al-Taym. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights documented tens of airstrikes by Russian warplanes and helicopters since today morning in conjunction with violent and heavy shelling by the regime forces and their militiamen on the clash areas, where violent clashes between both parties caused the death of more members of the regime forces and their allied militiamen and ISIS, in addition to the injury of tens of them with different severity.
And the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published hours ago that the continued clashes to break the siege on the Military Airport of Deir Ezzor caused more human loses in the ranks of both parties, where the SOHR documented that it rose to 76, the number of members of both parties, who were killed in the battles of the area of the cemetery and the vicinity of the city of Deir Ezzor, where the SOHR documented the death of at least 14 members of the regime forces and their allied militiamen and 62 members of the organization who were killed in shelling, bombing and clashes.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned that the violent fighting was accompanied by violent clashes in the western desert of Deir Ezzor, which enabled the regime forces with a cover of intensive Russian bombing and of artillery and rocket shelling by the regime forces to achieve advancement in second area towards the Deir Ezzor Military Airport, after taking the control over Al-Teem oil field, and after taking the control of this field and its oil wells, these forces became 4 km away from the besieged Deir Ezzor Military Airport, they also controlled the road between Deir Ezzor city and Al-Mayadin city which is located in its eastern countryside, thus, Jabal Al-Thardah separates the regime forces and the airport, while the Russian planes are escalating their shelling to secure the firearm cover for the advancement of the ground forces, and there was confirmed information about more casualties and injuries in the ranks of the both parties, while the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned that the regime forces is working to carry out an attempt to encircle Deir Ezzor city through advancing from the south-east of the airport and reaching to the road of Aleppo – Deir Ezzor – Al-Bokamal, and the western banks of the Euphrates River, to impose a siege on the organization inside the city, which the organization controls more than half of its area, where the west of Deir Ezzor is witnessing collapse in the ranks of the members of the organization, amid continuous attempts by the regime forces to cut all the ways to prevents supplies to enter Deir Ezzor city, and to prevent ISIS to bring military reinforcements from Al-Mayadin city, which is the capital of the “Al-Khair State”.
