The “Islamic State” organization attacks the regime forces in Mahkan Desert killing and injuring about 60 of their members

More than 62 members of the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them wert killed during about 72 hours of counterattacks in the outskirts of Al-Mayadin city and Mahkan desert

After about 24 hours of attempts by the regime forces to look in a good position in front of their supporters, and avoid getting into a lost battle in Al-Mayadin city in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor by turning around the city and advancing towards the east of Al-Mayadin city, the “Islamic State” organization gave a powerful new slap to the regime forces, by a violent attack on the sites of the regime forces in Mahkan Desert while they were trying to hold control of the area, in order to be taken as a new starting point for the operation of trapping the “Islamic State” organization in villages and towns that are still controlled by the organization between Mahkan area and east of Deir Ezzor city, and the violent attack by the organization was accompanied by intensive shelling targeted sites of the regime forces, amid explosions shook the area caused by detonations targeted sites of the regime forces, and exchange of targeting between both parties.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored the fall of a large number of casualties in the ranks of the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them, where the Syrian Observatory documented the death of  about 23 of them at least, as well as the injury of more than 34 others with varying severity, in addition to capturing members of the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them during this counterattack, which is the considered the second counterattack by the organization in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, after the counterattack in the western outskirts of Al-Mayadin, in which the organization forced the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them to withdraw from the city to its desert, after killing more than 39 members of the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them.

Reliable sources confirmed to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights that the regime forces and after their failure to achieve advancement in Al-Mayadin city and although they entered the western section of the city, and then they were expelled out of the city after 48 hours, and forcing them to withdraw to the eastern desert of Deir Ezzor after killing about 40 members of them, they are trying to save their face and not to show their weakness for the public, the local and the international opinion and their allies, by entering a long battle that they may not be able to won, so they turned to widen the area that they intended to encircle form three directions and to leave only one open, to force the organization to withdraw from the east of Deir Ezzor city to Mahkan area in the east of Al-Mayadin, towards the eastern banks of the Euphrates River in the extended area, in which the clashes are taking place against the Syria Democratic Forces which lead “Al-Jazeera Storm” Operation,

And the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored on the Wednesday the 11th of October 2017, intensive shelling by the regime forces which are located in Mahkan desert, which targeted by artillery and rocket shells, areas in Al-Mayadin city and the towns of Mahkan, Al-Quriyah, Al-Asharah, Sbikhan and Dablan in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, and no information about casualties was reported yet, in conjunction with raids by warplanes on areas in Al-Mayadin and Mahkan, Sbikhan and Al-Quriyah.
