Intensive shelling by the regime forces accompanies the continuous fighting on the banks of the Euphrates River in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor
Deir Ezzor Province – The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: the violent clashes are continuing between the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities against the “Islamic State” organization, in the western and the eastern banks of the Euphrates River, in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, as a result of the continuation of the regime forces’ attack on the area, to achieve further advancement and impose their control on more of the towns and the villages they lost during the past years, accompanied by shelling by the regime forces on Al-Shahil town, in the bank apposite Bakrus Foqani which the regime forces imposed a full control of yesterday in conjunction with the attempts by the regime forces to advance and take the control Khesham town, while the number of casualties who were killed as a result of the warplanes bombing on Madrasah area in Sa’loo village in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor yesterday, has increased to 3 persons including a citizen woman and her daughter.
And the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published yesterday, that violent clashes are taking place between the regime forces supported by gunmen loyal to them of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities against members of the “Islamic State” organization in areas in the western banks of the Euphrates River, in the area between the east of Deir Ezzor city and al-Mayadin city in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, where the regime forces started a violent attack after about 24 hours of controlling Al-Mayadin city –which used to be “the capital of al-Khair State”– after fierce battles, during which the regime forces were able to defeat members of the” Islamic State “organization led by “al-Qaradish”, and the battles were accompanied by heavy and intense shelling on the city.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored the continuation of clashes in an attempt by the regime forces to advance, where they were able with the support of their loyal gunmen to control Beqres area, and after that the area of Beqres Tahtani and most of the town of Beqres Foqani have become under their control, after a fierce and intense attack coincided with the continuous bombardment by the Russian warplane as well as regime’s warplanes and shelling by the regime forces.
The regime forces are trying to complete their control over the entire remaining area between Al-Mayadin and east of Deir Ezzor, in an attempt to end the presence of the organization by pushing it to withdraw towards the eastern banks of the river, while SOHR received confirmed information about casualties in the ranks of both parties.
