Fears for the lives of hundreds of the detainees on Homs Central Prison who carry out a strike inside the prison and demands for releasing them
Homs Central Prison has been witnessing since about 24 hours, a strike by the detainees inside the prison, and in the details obtained by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, hundreds of the prisoners carried out a strike and obstinacy inside Homs Central Prison, demanding to release themwith the guarantee of humanitarian bodies and organizations, in which cross sources confirmed to the SOHR that the prison authorities cut off water and electricity of the prison, amid threats against prisoners to break into the prison, if they do not stop their strike, while prisoners in Homs Central Prison sent SOS to the United Nation and the Red Crescent and the Red Cross, as well as the humanitarian bodies, to make a pressure on the regime to release them, and demanded the factions not to “negotiate their blood”, and the prisoners called out using slogans that salute and support the cities and towns of the northern countryside of Homs, while fears prevail about the prisoners’ lives from breaking out the prison by the regime or targeting them by shooting them or firing tear gas devices.
And the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published in the middle of October 2016, that Justice Minister in the regime of Bashar Assad issued a “pardon ” for more than 40 detained persons in the central prison of Homs, who were arrested on the background of the Syrian revolution that began at the 15th of March 2011, the sources of the Observatory reported that detainees involved in this pardon have refused to be released three years ago, fearing not to be taken “reserve duty” in the ranks of regime forces, while the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published in the middle of November 2015, that the regime forces stormed yesterday night the central prison of Homs throwing tear gas shells as a respond to a protest inside the prison because the regime forces took a detainee out of the prison to an intelligence branch, and activists and the families of prisoners who the regime forces have in Homs Central Prison, accused the regime forces of throwing tear gas shells at the prisoners and cutting off electricity and they didn’t serve food for them as a “punishment” for prisoners to protest on the transfer of one of the prisoners to an intelligence branch.
