The “Islamic State” organization kills at least 19 members of the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them in a counterattack near the Syrian-Iraqi border forcing them to withdraw

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned that the violent clashes continued between the regime forces supported by gunmen loyal to them of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities against members of the “Islamic State” organization in areas near the administrative borders between Homs and Deir Ezzor along the Syrian-Iraqi border, as a result of a violent attack by the “Islamic State” organization during the past 24 hours, and the Syrian Observatory monitored the “Islamic State” organization being able to advance in the area of Wadi Al-Wa’er Dam forcing the regime forces to retreat and withdraw, after intense explosions and shelling which targeted regime forces’ position in the area.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights documented during this violent attack the death of more than 19 members of the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities, and also the injury of others and some of them are still in serious condition, which may raise the death toll, also several members of the “Islamic State” organization were killed in the violent clashes and others were injured, and the contact area between the regime forces and the organization in the eastern desert of Homs is witnessing counterattacks by the organization every now and then targeting the regime forces, in an attempt to recover areas they lost earlier and inflict the highest number of casualties in the ranks of the regime forces and the militiamen loyal to them of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities.
