Continuous clashes in the largest neighborhoods of Deir Ezzor city and the regime forces seek to control it completely with a cover of intense bombardment and shelling

Deir Ezzor Province, the Syrian Observatory for human Rights: the Syrian Observatory learned that the clashes continue violently between members of the “Islamic State” organization against the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities in areas in Deir Ezzor city, where the regime forces continue their offensive in Al-Hamidiyyeh neighborhood, which is the largest neighborhood in Deir Ezzor city, of which the regime forces has been able during the past hours to achieve advancement in it and control parts of it, and the clashes were accompanied by intensive shelling by the regime forces and the Russian and the regime’s warplanes on the “Islamic State” organization’s controlled areas and positions in the neighbourhood, amid exchange of targeting on the contact lines between them, which left casualties in the ranks of both parties.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published on Sunday morning the 29th of October 2017 that although the organization used the bad weather as an advantage to carry out counter attacks on the positions of the regime forces during night, the regime forces backed by gunmen loyal to them, also manage to carry out a violent attack, and advanced controlling Al-Arfi and Al-Ommal neighborhoods, and imposed full control on the area of the Municipal Stadium and the nearby sports constructions in the vicinity of Al-Ommal neighborhood, thus, the regime forces managed to clamp down on the organization greatly in Deir Ezzor city, and the violent fighting between the both parties was accompanied intensive shelling by the regime forces, while the Russian warplanes as well as regime’s warplanes carried out tens of raids on the controlled areas of the organization in Deir Ezzor city.

The clashes which the city witnessed during the past hours, were the most violent ones since the siege on the city was lifted on the 10th of September 2017, and left large numbers of casualties in the ranks of the both parties in Deir Ezzor city, in which the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights documented the death of more 50 members of ISIS in these clashes as well as the accompanied shelling, while 23 members at leas of the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities were killed, and other members in the ranks of the both parties were injured with varying degrees of severity.
