The regime forces continue the fight in Deir Ezzor city to achieve more advancement at the expense of the “Islamic State” organization

Deir Ezzor Province, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: explosions were heard in Deir Ezzor city, caused by shelling by the “Islamic State” organization targeting areas in al-Qosur neighborhood which is controlled by the regime forces in Deir Ezzor city, which caused injuries, while the clashes continue between the regime forces supported by the gunmen loyal to them of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities against members of the “Islamic State” organization in places in Al-Hamidiyyeh area and other areas in al-Khasarat and the Old Airport in Deir Ezzor city, in which the regime forces continue trying to achieve more advancement at the expense of the Organization in order to end the presence of ISIS in the city, and the clashes are accompanied by exchange of targeting between both parties, also the clashes continued in areas in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor Province, where the clashes were concentrated in Al-Mayadin Desert at the west banks of the Euphrates River and in the vicinity of the Second Station southwest of Bokamal, near the administrative border with Homs province, amid advancement for the regime forces in locations between the Station and the Syrian-Iraqi border, also the warplanes targeted areas in al-Asharah town and caused considerable material damage.

The Syrian Observatory published on Sunday that the regime forces were able to achieve an important advancement and controlled parts of al-Hamidiyyeh neighborhood, which is considered as the largest neighborhood in Deir Ezzor city, also the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published that  although the organization used the advantage of the bad weather to carry out counter attacks on the positions of the regime forces during night, the regime forces backed by gunmen loyal to them, also manage to carry out a violent attack, and advanced controlling Al-Arfi and Al-Ommal neighborhoods, and imposed full control on the area of the Municipal Stadium and the nearby sports constructions in the vicinity of Al-Ommal neighborhood, thus, the regime forces managed to clamp down on the organization greatly in Deir Ezzor city, and the violent fighting between the both parties was accompanied intensive shelling by the regime forces, while the Russian warplanes as well as regime’s warplanes carried out tens of raids on the controlled areas of the organization in Deir Ezzor city, and the clashes which the city witnessed during the past hours, were the most violent ones since the siege on the city was lifted on the 10th of September 2017, and left large numbers of casualties in the ranks of the both parties in Deir Ezzor city, in which the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights documented the death of more 50 members of ISIS in these clashes as well as the accompanied shelling, while 23 members at leas of the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities were killed, and other members in the ranks of the both parties were injured with varying degrees of severity.
