The regime forces impose their control on more than 95% of Deir Ezzor city and ISIS defend the last area remaining under its control

Deir Ezzor Province – The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned that the clashes are still continuing at lower pace of violent between the regime forces backed by armed militiamen loyal to them of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities against the members of the “Islamic State” organization, accompanied by continuous targeting by the regime forces to the controlled areas of the organization and its positions in the parts remaining under its untrol in the city, and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned that the regime forces managed to increase their scope of control and imposed their control over more than 95% of Deir Ezzor area, while ISIS scope of control has been minimized to less than 5%, and the organization massed in Sheikh Yasin and Al-Ardi neighborhoods and large parts of Al-Hwiqa neighborhood, and if the regime forces managed to achieve further advancement, then they manage to end the presence of the organization and impose full control over Deir Ezzor city.

 

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned from a number of reliable sources, that the “Islamic State” organization turned to secure a withdrawal out of Deir Ezzor city, after the ability of the organization to regain the control of the areas it lost decreased, within the military operation which the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored that its pace increased, after the Brigadier in the regime forces, Suhail Al-Hassan, known as the “Tiger”, was assigned to lead the military operations of ending the presence of the organization in Deir Ezzor city, in which the violent clashes since the 22nd of October 2017, resulted in recovering Hawija Sakr and the neighborhoods of Old airport, Al-Ommal, Al-Orfi, Al-Kanamat, Al-Khasarat, Al-Jabilah and parts of Al-Hamidiyah neighborhood by the organization, until the regime forces came and took the control of an area reached more than 95% of the total area of Deir Ezzor, in which the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published on the 22nd of October 2017, that the regime forces assigned Brigadier Suhail Al-Hassan, known as the “Tiger”, who leads the military operations in the province of Deir Ezzor, to completely control the whole city of Deir Ezzor.

 

And the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published yesterday, that that Clash continue at a violent pace in Deir Ezzor city, where the regime strives to end the presence the “Islamic State” organization in it by intensifying the military operations supported by its gunmen of Syrian, Arab and Asian nationalities, with the participation of Russian forces, and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored violent and continuous clashes for the 4th consecutive day, which started on the 29th of October 2017, and they were the most violent in Deir Ezzor city since breaking the siege of the city on the 10th of September 2017, in which the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored the regime forces today achieving an important advancement represented by controlling al-Jabilah neighbourhood completely, where the organization used to control some of it, the regime forces were also able to control sites in its outskirts, such as al-Hizb housing  and the Public Park, and by this control the “Islamic State” organization is trapped in the neighborhoods of al-Ardi and Sheikh Yassin, large parts of Al-Hamidiyyeh neighborhood and parts of al-Hwiqa neighbourhood, where the regime forces constantly launched artillery and rocket shells on areas controlled by the organization in the city, along with raids by the Russian and regime’s warplanes on the areas itself, amid exchange of targeting between both parties.

 

This important advancement today was preceded by extensive advancement by the regime forces during the past 72 hours, where they controlled the neighborhoods of the Kanamat, al-Matar al-Qadim and the southern section al-Hamidiyah neighbourhood, which enabled the regime forces to expand their control within the city at the expense of the organization, and at the same time the organization is trying to repel the advancement of the regime by detonating booby trapped vehicles or intensifying its counterattacks, and the fall of casualties from the ranks of both parties continues, and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights documented more casualties of both parties, where at least 36 members of the “Islamic State” organization were killed during the past 48 hours, and 12 members at least of the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities were killed, raising to at least 101; the number of members of the “Islamic State” organization who were killed within 4 consecutive days of the heaviest clashes in the city, also it rose to 41 at least; the number of members of the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them who were killed in shelling, clashes, explosions and raids in Deir Ezzor city, also tens of others were injured.
