Helicopters coming from the eastern border of Syria and others believed to be Russian bomb Bokamal intensely with continuous clashes in its southwestern desert

Deir Ezzor Province, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: al-Bokamal city and other areas in its countryside and desert are witnessing bombing by helicopters believed to be Russian and other unidentified warplanes that entered the Syrian-Iraqi border from the eastern side, and these warplanes heavily targeted areas in Bokamal city, its desert and countryside, which is the largest remaining stronghold of the “Islamic State” organization in the Syrian territory, and these intense airstrikes come after the regime forces were able to get closer to L-Bokamal city, where the regime forces and militiamen loyal of Syrian, Arab and Asian nationalities are now less than 15 km away of Bokamal city, after they advanced in the last 24 hours, where the violent clashes continue between them against the organization’s members in the southwestern Desert of Bokamal, in an attempt by the regime forces to reach the city and control it.

During the past few hours, the Syrian Observatory published that the southern desert of Al-Bukamal witness violent clashes, through which the regime forces seek to advance more towards Al-Bukamal city and control the city, which is the largest bastion of ISIS in Syria. The SOHR learned that the violent clashes are taking place between the regime forces and their allied militiamen of Syrian, Arab and Asian nationalities against members of ISIS of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities, where the regiem forces managed to advancnce in the area of T2 station and became less than 15 km away from Al-Bukamal city, after controlling Okash field, while the area is witnessing heavy shelling by the regime forces and aerial bombardment by warplanes and helicopters affiliated to the regime and Russia, on areas controlled by ISIS, amid an exchange of shelling between both parties in areas in the southwestern desert of Al-Bukamal, amid more killing of members of both parties in these battles.

The SOHR learned from several reliable sources that a group of the Popular Mobilization Forces has entered the Syrian territory and began to operate under the umbrella of Al-Nujaba’ Iraqi Movement, which has been fighting along the regime forces in many fronts in the Syrian desert and other areas.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published yesterday that the regime forces, which managed to achieve strategic advancement through controlling the city of Deir Ezzor, received consecutives bombshells during the past days in the desert of Deir Ezzor and its countryside, as the regime forces retreated to the desert of Al-Mayadeen after they had managed to control the town of Al-Quriyah and Mahakan and reach the outskirts of Al-Ashara districyt, and the regime forces were forces to return to the T2 station, before they managed yesterday to reach to an area of 30 km away southwest of Al-Bukamal city, coming from T2 after they confronted a repel attack by the organization.

After the fight return to the desert of Al-Mayadeen, located more than 65 km from the border city of Al-Bukamal, which is the organization’s main stronghold in Syria, in addition to the failure of the regime forces to resume advancing in the western banks of the Euphrates River, the regime forces managed to advance in the past 72 hours east of T2 Station and become closer to the Syrian – Iraqi borders, in an attempt by them to advance to the main stronghold of ISIS, Al-Bukamal, through advancing along the Syrian Iraqi borders, and force ISIS to withdraw from the eastern desert of Deir Ezzor and areas located west of the Euphrates, to east of the Euphrates, in order to control the largest possible area within the least time and with the least losses, and the regime forces seek reinforce their presence and fortify their sites against potential repel attacks by the organization.
