Two violent explosions rock the area of Deir Ezzor Military Airbase 10 days after the full control of the regime forces over Deir Ezzor city

Two violent explosions rock the outskirts of Deir Ezzor city, and sources confirmed to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights that the explosions took place in the area of Deir Ezzor Military Airbase, and the sources suggested that one of the explosions may be caused by detonating a member of the “Islamic State” organization himself in the area of the airbase, and he targeted a position of the regime forces and gunmen loyal to them, and information about confirmed casualties in their ranks as a result of the explosion, while the circumstances and the reason of second explosion is not known until now, and the both of the explosions were accompanied with opening fire heard in the area, it is not known whether it caused by an attack of other members of the organization who managed to infiltrate to the area.

This is the first explosion that targets Deir Ezzor city, since it was controlled completely on the 2nd of November 2017, after military operations during which violent fighting took place between the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities against the “Islamic State” organization, also the regime forces lifted the siege imposed on their controlled areas including Deir Ezzor Military Airbase, on the 10th of September 2017.
