HUNDREDS of ISIS fighters have been allowed to evacuate Syria sparking fears British jihadis could return to the UK.
Some 250 militants and 3,500 relatives were taken out of Raqqa after local officials arranged a convoy.
One unnamed driver claimed that there was “a huge number of foreigners” on the journey.
Another said the convoy, which left in October, was more than four miles long and contained almost 50 trucks, 13 buses and more than 100 IS vehicles that contained weapons and ammunition.
Lorry driver Abu Fawzi claimed there were three or four foreigners with each driver.
He said the foreign fighters beat him and called him names, such as “infidel” and “pig”.
The US and British-led coalition to defeat IS have admitted their part in letting the militants escape.
Col Ryan Dillon, spokesman for Operation Inherent Resolve, the Western coalition against IS, said: “We didn’t want anyone to leave. But it comes down to Syrians – they are the ones fighting and dying, they get to make the decisions regarding operations.”
But he claimed just four foreign fighters left — and they are in custody.
