The Eastern Ghouta of Damascus is under fire…more than 825 raids, shells and missiles hit the Eastern Ghouta and kill and injure more than 200 citizens with ongoing violent fighting
Rif Dimashq Province – The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: the fighting of the Eastern Ghouta of Damascus is continuing and completes its third day, and starts its fourth consecutive day, of the ongoing violent clashes between the regime forces and gunmen loyal to them against the Islamic Movement of Ahrar Al-Sham, and the clashes have been concentrating since the noon of Tuesday the 14th of November 2017, in areas inside the Vehicle Department and its vicinity, near Harasta city, in the Eastern Ghouta of Damascus, and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored today the 17th of November 2017, intensive shelling on Harasta city and the nearby town of Mdira by more than 81 shells targeted areas there, which resulted in the injury of 5 citizens in Harasta city including two women and a child girl, while the warplanes targeted areas in Harasta city and Mdira town by 8 raids, caused mor destruction in the city, while the regime forces shelled areas in Douma city by 3 artillery shells, resulted in the death of 5 citizens including 4 children while about 12 others were injured including children and citizen women, while the warplanes carried out two raids on areas in the outskirts of Zamalka city which is the stronghold of Al-Rahaman Corps in the Eastern Ghouta, in conjunction with 8 raids carried out by the warplanes on areas in Arbin city, amid shelling by the regime forces by 5 shells on areas in Ein Tarma town.
And with the continuation of this shelling by the regime forces, the number of the shells that targeted Harasta, Mdira and the clash areas in the vicinity of the Vehicle Department since Tuesday the 14th of November 2017, has increased to 521 shells, and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has documented 92 raids targeted areas in Harasta city and Mdira town, and the SOHR also documented 46 raids at least targeted Douma and Arbin cities in the same period, while the number of shells and missiles that are believed to be ground-to-ground which fired by the regime forces and fell on the cities and the towns of Ein Tarma, Douma, Masraba, Saqba, Hamouriyah, Arbin, Ashari Farms, Beit Sawa, Hazza and Kafr Batna, has increased to 169.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has documented tens of casualties and wounded since last Tuesday, in which 31 citizens at least were killed including 9 children and a woman by the intensive shelling, in which 5 citizens including 4 children were killed today, while 14 citizens were killed on Thursday, as well as 8 citizens were killed on Wednesday, and 4 others were killed on Tuesday, and in the details documented by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights; the casualties who were killed today are 5 citizens including 4 children were killed in shelling by the regime forces on Douma city, while the casualties who were killed on Thursday are 5 citizens were killed due to raids carried out by warplanes on areas in Arbin city, and a child died affected by the injury he had by shelling by the regime forces on Arbin city, 3 children were killed by a shell on Biet Sawa town, a citizen woman was killed by rocket shelling on Douma and a man was killed by rocket shelling on Saqbq, and a young man was killed by shelling by the regime forces on Ein Tarma town, and two citizens were killed by shelling by the regime forces by missiles on Hamouriyahcity, and the casualties who were killed on Wednesday, are 4 citizens including two children they were killed by raids targeted areas in Arbin city and a man was killed by rocket shelling on Saqba city, and another was killed by rocket and artillery shelling on Hamouriyah city, and 2 citizens were killed by aerial and artillery shelling on Douma city, while the casualties who were killed on Tuesday are 2 citizens were killed in artillery shelling by the regime forces on Arbin city, and two others were killed in shelling by the regime forces on Mdira town, and the number of the wounded has increased to about 174 wounded at least including tens of children and citizen women, some of them are still in serious situation, which may raise the death toll.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights also documented the death of 37 members at least of the regime forces and gunmen loyal to them including 9 officers including a general in these clashes, while tens of fighters of the Islamic Movement of Ahrar Al-Sham were killed and injured in the same attack.
