ISIS fights fiercely to defend its last area remaining on the banks of the Euphrates River against the attacks of the SDF and the regime forces and their allied
About 17 villages and towns are still controlled by the organization in the east of the Euphrates and about 450 casualties in the ranks of the regime forces and their allied as well as the organization since the start of the second battle of Al-Bokamal
Although the operations of ending the presence of the “Islamic State” organization entered their last stage in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, in the two front the east and the west of the Euphrates River, which the Syria Democratic Forces lead the first front within “Al-Jazeera Storm” Operation, while the other front is led by the regime forces backed by armed militiamen loyal to them of Syrian, Arab and Asian nationalities, and each party is seeking to end the presence of the organization from its side, but the later shows fierce repel, after it was besieged in several pockets with different areas.
In the front in the west of the Euphrates River in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored violent clashes between the regime forces backed by armed militiamen loyal to them of Syrian, Lebanese, Iraqi and Iranian and Asian nationalities against the “Islamic State” organization, in areas in the vicinity of the last pocket of the organization west of Al-Bokamal city, which includes the last 3 villages controlled by the organization west of the Euphrates River, and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored ISIS followed the strategy of the counter attacks which cause the larges number of human losses in the ranks of its opponents, in which the counter attacks were concentrated in the west of the Euphrates River, against the position of the regime forces extended from Al-Salihiyah town to Al-Jalaa town, the last one was what the SOHR documented during the past 24 hours, in which it documented that ISIS carried out a counter attack on Al-Salihiyah town west of the Euphrates River, and it targeted positions of the regime forces by two booby trapped vehicles, detonated near positions of the regime forces, which killed and injured members of the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities, and these attacks which are carried out through successive rounds by attacking by groups of the members of the organization including fighters of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities, resulted in the fall of more human losses in the ranks of the both parties, to raise the death toll since the start of the second battle of Al-Bokamal on the 16th of November 2017 until now, to 219 persons at least, the number of casualties of the regime forces and gunmen loyal to them of Syrian, Lebanese, Iraqi, Iranian, Afghan and Palestinian nationalities who were killed in Al-Bokamal city and its vicinity and countryside, including 101 Syrian members, and 16 members of the Lebanese Hezbollah, while the rest members are of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces as well as , Iraqi, Iranian, Palestinian and Afghan members, and the total death toll includes 30 members of who were killed in clashes in the vicinity and the countryside of Al-Bokamal, during the past 10 days, and the number of the casualties of the “Islamic State” organization who were killed in these clashes during the same period, has increased to 228 members at least, and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored the injury of tens of them with varying degrees of severity, which may raise the death toll.
And in the front of the east of the Euphrates River, ISIS is continuing its attempt to maintain its presence in its last areas remaining within Deir Ezzor province, in which violent clashes have been taking place since the 1st of December 2017, between the organization against the Syria Democratic Forces lead the first front within “Al-Jazeera Storm” Operation which aim to end the presence of the organization in the east of the Euphrates River, and the pace of clashes increased during the past 24 hours, because the organization managed to carry out counter attacks enabled it to recover positions and a village they lost in the east of the Euphrates River, while the violent clashes between the both parties is witnessing intensive exchange of shelling, as well as air strikes by warplanes on the areas that are still controlled by the organization, in which it still controls about 17 villages and towns in the area between Abu Hardoub and the Syrian – Iraqi border, amid continuous efforts and attempts to advance into it and take its control and end the presence if ISIS in it completely, and the renewed clashes, the explosions, and the shelling resulted in the death and the injury of tens in the ranks of the both parties.
And the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has documented the death of 234 Syrian civilians including 65 children below the age of 18 and 42 women, since the 8th of November 2017, the date of starting the first control on Al-Bokamal city, until today the 1st of December 2017, in shelling by the regime forces and the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces, airstrikes by Russian and regime warplanes, airstrikes by the International Coalition’s warplanes. The martyrs are 170 citizen including 49 children and 33 women, who were killed in airstrikes by Russian and regime warplanes on villages and towns and cities of the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, and 26 citizens including 15 children and 5 women, who were killed in shelling, the sources said its source was the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces, and 27 citizens including 3 women were killed in shelling by International Coalition’s warplanes, and 11 citizens including a child and a woman who were killed in shelling by the regime forces by artillery and missiles shells on areas in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, and the artillery, missile and aerial shelling targeted villages, cities and towns of Abu Hamam, al-Kashkiyyeh, Gharanij, Al-Bokamal, Marashdah, Sha’afah, Sbikhan, Al-Abbas, Al-Baghuz, Al-Siyyal, Hasrat, Al-Ghira, Hajin, and other areas on the banks of the Euphrates River, and the camps of Souh Al-Rifai, Al-Sukkariya, and gathering of civilians near water crossing between both banks, while the aerial and ground shelling left about 400 others injured with different severity, including tens of children and women, and some of the injured suffered imputations and permanent disabilities, while there is number of the missing, whose fate is still unknown, and some of the injured are still in serious conditions, which may increase the death toll.
