After the regime forces and their allies desperately battled for weeks, negotiations are being held in the southwest of Rif Dimashq to get Tahrir Al-Sham and those refusing the “new displacement” out
The SOHR received information from several reliable sources about negotiation are currently being held in the southwestern Rif Dimashq to reach an agreement about the exit of Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham from the southwestern Rif Dimashq to head to the province of Idlib in north Syria. The reliable sources asserted to the SOHR that the agreement will include fighters and their families and citizens who refuse this agreement so as to go out from the area. These negotiations came after weeks of heavy shelling that included hundreds of shells and missiles, believed to be surface-to-surface, and barrel bombs that were dropped from the regime’s helicopters, which have stopped shelling the area after a helicopter was taken down in early December and 3 officers on board were killed while it was flying over the southwestern Rif Dimashq. These negotiations also came after the regime forces and their allied militiamen besieged the factions and Hayyaat Tahrir al-Sham in a small circle extending from Mughr Al-Mir to the town of Beit Jenn, and the regime forces managed during the past ten days to divide the areas into parts and paralyzed the fighters of the factions and Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham through firearm control on the roads between Mughr al-Mir and Beit Jenn Farm and Beit Jenn town, through controlling hills overseeing the area.
And the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published in the past hours that The regime forces do not almost stop their attempts to confine the factions operating in the southwestern Rif Dimashq, and to clamp down on them, in order to reach an agreement with them to “reconcile or displace”, and to end the presence of Hayyaat Tahrir al-Sham in this part of Rif Dimashq which is near the Syrian – Lebanese border and the border of the occupied Syrian Golan and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored today the 25th of December 2017, that the shelling by artillery and rocket shells and missiles believed to be ground-to-ground, renewed on areas in Beit Jinn town and Beit Jinn Farm and Mughr al-Mir, in the southwestern Rif Dimashq, accompanied by violent clashes between Hayyaat Tahrir al-Sham and the rebel and Islamic factions against the regime forces backed by armed militiamen loyal to them, in an attempt by the regime forces which approached Beit Jinn Farm and its town, and they also reached the outskirts of Mughr al-Mir, to take the control of more areas and confine the factions after they blocked the road between the remaining areas of the factions and Tahrir Al-Sham by fire arm.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights also learned from reliable sources in the southwestern Rif Dimashq, that the regime forces during escalating their shelling and through the daily violent clashes, are seeking to force the factions to run out of their ammunition, to force them to surrender and accept their conditions and accept even “a reconciliation” or “a displacement”, while the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored during the past week, that the regime forces were able to reach an area near the outskirts of Mughr al-Mir located in the besieged circle remaining for factions and Hayyaat Tahrir al-Sham in the southwest of Rif Dimashq, and also being able to control several hills over the last week and approaching Beit Jinn Farm, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored on Tuesday the 19th of December 2017 the regime forces carrying out a firearm-dividing for the remaining areas under the control of the factions southwest of Rif Dimashq, by firearm-monitoring all the supply and movement routes between Mughr al-Mir and Beit Jinn Farm and Beit Jinn town, which will make difficult for the faction fighters and Hayyaat Tahrir al-Sham to move within the remaining besieged circle. In early November the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published that the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights received information from intersected sources that the regime forces are making military preparations to carry out a massive attack on the besieged southwest of Rif Dimashq, in order to control the areas that are controlled by the factions, and the preparations came after an attack that took place on the 3rd of November 2017, started by detonating a booby trapped vehicle in Hodr town, followed by a violent attack by the factions during which they managed to connect their controlled areas in southwest of Rif Dimashq with their controlled areas in the northern countryside of Quneitra, then after hours the regime forces broke that corridor and re-besieged the southwest of Rif Dimashq, where the violent clashes, the bombings and the accompanying shelling have killed at least 20 members of the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them, and injured tens others with varying severity, while tens of the fighters of Tahrir Al-Sham were injured, the sources also confirmed to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights that this operation is led by a prominent officer in the ranks of the regime forces, who had a major role in the operations of re-controlling the neighborhoods east of the capital Damascus.
