The continued escalation in the Eastern Ghouta within 2 consecutive weeks raises the death toll to 170 civilians almost half of them are children and females
Rif Dimashq Province, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: the artillery shelling was renewed on the eastern Ghouta, within the continuous escalation of land and air strikes on the Eastern Ghouta since the 29th of December 2017, where the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has monitored shelling by the regime forces by 7 artillery shells targeting areas in Douma city, the stronghold of Jaysh al-Islam in the Eastern Ghouta, killing 2 citizens on of them is a child, while at least 22 others were injured including children and women, and the death toll is expected to rise because there are some people in critical situation, which raises to 3 at least including a child, the number of persons who were killed today in the Eastern Ghouta, they are: a man was killed in raids on Mesraba which is controlled by Jaysh al-Islam, and a child and a man were killed in artillery shelling on Douma city.
This continuous shelling -which caused more casualties- has increase in the death toll in 2 weeks of continuous artillery and aerial bombardment and shelling, which targeted the Eastern Ghouta by hundreds of raids, artillery and rocket strikes, thus, the death toll has increased to 170 citizens including 47 children and 37 citizen women, who have been killed since the 29th of December 2017, and the casualties are 126 citizens including 40 children, 31 citizen women and a male nurse, they were killed in raids by the warplanes on areas in Harasta city controlled by the Islamic movement of Ahrar Al-Sham and raids on Madyara town as well as the cities of Saqba, Hamuriya, Douma and Arbin, and 44 citizens including 7 children and 6 citizen women and 2 male nurses were killed by artillery and rocket shelling targeted areas in Beit Sawa town, the cities of Harasta, Hamuriya, Douma and Arbin as well as the towns of Kafr Batna, Mesraba, Al-Nashabiyah and Otaya, and the aerial and artillery shelling left tens of casualties and wounded included a large number of children and citizen women, and the number of casualties may increase because of the presence of serious injuries.
