Ahrar Al-Sham Islamic movement and Jaysh Al-Islam repel a violent attack carried out by the regime forces between Douma and Harasta after shelling since morning by tens of raids, missiles and shells

Rif Dimashq Province – The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored violent clashes taking place in the Eastern Ghouta, between the regime forces and gunmen loyal to them against the fighters of Ahrar Al-Sham Islamic movement and Jaysh Al-Islam, in areas in Al-Basateen stretched between Harasta and Douma cities, following a violent attack by the regime forces on the area in an attempt to advance in the area, and the clashes are accompanied by intensive shelling by tens artillery, mortar and tanks shells as well as missiles, while it has increased to 35, the number of raids carried out by warplanes since this morning on areas in Harasta city and its vicinity, in conjunction with shelling by 33 missiles at leas believed to be ground-to-ground, fired by the regime forces on the same areas, while it has increased to at least 13, the number of the raids which targeted Arbin city controlled by Al-Rahman Corps, and the regime forces shelled Douma city and its outskirts by more than 10 rocket and artillery shells, while the Eastern Ghouta witnessed during the past few hours shelling by the regime forces by a shell on an area Douma city controlled by Jaysh Al-Islam which is its stronghold, which injured 3 persons, while the regime forces fired a shell targeting an area in Otaya town in Al-Marj area controlled by Jaysh Al-Islam, which injured one person, and the regime forces fired a shell targeting an area in Saqba city, which injured a citizen woman, while the regime forces fired a shell on an area in Beit Sawa town, which killed a man and injured others, while a citizen woman died affected by the injury she had due to targeting areas in Douma city by the regime forces by heavy machineguns, and the regime forces also targeted areas in the outskirts of Madyara town by 2 shells, in conjunction with targeting by 2 shells to areas in Hazza and Kafr Batna towns.

It is noteworthy that the ongoing violent clashes between the regime forces and the factions in the Eastern Ghouta, raised the number of the human losses in the ranks of the both parties, where it rose to at least 79 members of the regime forces and their allied militiamen, including 9 officers at least including 5 brigadiers and a colonel, who were killed in shelling and clashes in the Eastern Ghouta since the 29th of December 2017, while it rose to at least 94, the number of fighters of Hayyaat Tahrir al-Sham, Ahrar Al-Sham Islamic Movement, Al-Rahman Corps, who were killed in the fronts of Vehicle Department, Province Building, and Air Intelligence vicinity, including a Saudi fighter who blew himself up in a booby trapped vehicle on the first day of the attack, which led to the siege of the Vehicle Department.
