Regime forces’ attack south of Aleppo on Abu Al-Duhur Airbase extends their control to 34 villages in less than 72 hours and gets them to the outskirts of an important town
Aleppo Province, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: the regime forces continue their attacks with their allies of Syrian, Arab and Asian nationalities in the southern countryside of Aleppo, where the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored the regime forces expanding their attack’s area, where the regime forces who are advancing from the southern countryside of Aleppo have reached an area about 6 km away of their forces who are located in the eastern countryside of Idlib, where the clashes are taking place between the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities against Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham and its supporting factions in areas in the southern countryside of Aleppo. These clashes are accompanied by heavy and intense shelling by the regime forcesو and resulted in the withdrawal of Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham from a new village group, after which the regime forces were able to reach the outskirts of al-Hajib town, which is considered one of the main towns in the remaining section under the control of Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham and the factions in the southern countryside of Aleppo, where the Syrian Observatory monitored the regime forces controlling 13 new villages after the withdrawal of Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham from them due to the intense shelling.
This advancement by the regime forces in the southern countryside of Aleppo has extended their control along with their loyal gunmen to 34 villages and area at least, and they are: Om Ankash, al-Salhiya, Burj Hussain Dahir, Tal Sawma’a, Jub Atnash Foqani, Jub Atnash Tahtani, Sahhur, al-Hardana, al-Asdiyah, Rasm al-Amish, Hawir al-Hess, al-Bannawi, Jub al-A’ama, al-Amiriya, Abu Jlous, Burj al-Sama, Tal Anbar, Abu Abdu, Alaf, Om Gharraf, Om Ghabr, Sbyha, Eytah, Om Sanabel, Om Khan, Om al-Amad Qebli, Hwarin, Ramleh, Mzi’eleh, Nawwarah, Rasm al-Sheikh, Tal al-Sabha, Tal Abu Rwayl and Abu Rwayl cemetery.
The Syrian Observatory published this morning that this movement by the regime forces came after successive failure for about 70 consecutive days, during which the regime forces backed by armed militiamen loyal to them of Syrian, Arab and Asian nationalities were not able to achieve advancement except in few villages, and they faced fierce repelling by Hayyaat Tahrir al-Sham and the factions, which prevented them to achieve wide advancement and forced them to leave their positions, until the regime forces managed to start their attack which have been continuing since about 48 hours ago, through which the regime forces managed to achieve wide advancement and take the control of 21 villages and areas stretched from Khanasir area towards the eastern countryside of Idlib and Abu Al-Duhur Military Airbase, while only 6 km still separate them to meet with the regime forces stationed in the eastern countryside of Idlib, and the clashes in this front were accompanied by shelling by thee regime forces and aerial raids, and withdrawals by the factions which failed to hold their control due to the intensive shelling by the regime forces, and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published on the 10th of January 2018, that Hayyaat Tahrir al-Sham withdrew from villages in Mount al-Hass in the southern countryside of Aleppo, adjacent the eastern countryside of Idlib, for the fear of being trapped by the regime forces, and the regime forces are seeking to increase their scope of control larger inside the Syrian territory and impose their control over new spaces at the expense of the factions and Tahrir Al-Sham, and provide more protection to the main artery of Aleppo which is Alepp – Salamiyah – Khanasir Road.
