Turkish shelling targets Afrin countryside for the second day on a row leaves injuries

Aleppo province – The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights:: the Turkish forces renewed their shelling for the second day on a row, where they targeted areas in the countryside of Afrin, which is controlled by the Kurdish YPG. The SOHR monitored shelling on places in the areas of Katma and Kafrjana, which caused by material damage, and reliable sources stressed to the SOHR that the Turkish shelling left at least 2 citizens injured with different severity, including a child.

This is the third round of artillery shelling by the Turkish forces on areas controlled by the Kurdish YPG in Afrin area. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored the continuation of the artillery shelling by the Turkish forces that targeted the areas and the villages of Qura Papa, Maska, Jisr Hashraka in Rajo district, Iska, Basufan, Dayr Ballut, Shah Dira, Mila Khalil, Jalama, Burj Suliman and Jandairis, which caused material damage, without information about casualties so far. It is noteworthy that Afrin area witnessed repeated shelling in the past few months by the Turkish forces which turned during the past two months hold their control over points where they can be presented in the vicinity of Afrin area, and in the outskirts of the YPG-held areas, after they entered the area and carried out reconnaissance operations in Idlib and Aleppo countryside, in order to determine the most suitable place, and these rounds took place with the accompanying and the protection of Hayyaat Tahrir al-Sham which secured the entry of the Turkish forces and their reconnaissance to the area, until they hold their points.
