Violent shelling of the regime forces target the outskirts of Douma and Harasta and nearby areas by about 115 shells and their members and allied militiamen are advancing in two farms in the Eastern Ghouta

Rif Dimashq province – The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights:: the regime forces continue their rocket shelling on the Eastern Ghouta of Damascus, where it rose to 112 at least, the number of shells fired by the regime forces since today morning on areas in the city of Douma, its outskirts and the garden linking between Douma and Harasta, 2 shells also targeted places in the town of Beit Sawa, injuring people including a child, while warplanes carried out more air strikes at the Eastern Ghouta of Damascus, where it rose to 15, the number of airstrikes that targeted areas in Harasta city and its outskirts since today morning, and warplanes also targeted by several raids places in the towns of Otaya, Al-Nashabiya, Hazrama, in Al-Marj area, while violent clashes are taking place in the areas of Al-Basaten and other areas located between Douma and Harasta  between Jaysh Al-Islam and Ahrar Al-Sham Islamic Movement against the regime forces and their allied militiamen, as the latter is trying to advance in the area through heavy missile shelling, and the SOHR monitored violent clashes taking place between the regime forces and their allied militiamen against Jaysh Al-Islam in places in Hazrama area in Al-Marj area in the Eastern Ghouta of Damascus, and this was coincided with shelling and an exchange of targeting between both parties on the clash area, while the regime forces managed to advance and control two farms, used to be controlled by Jaysh Al-Islam in the area located between the towns of Al-Zarikia and Hazrama.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published hours ago that the artillery shelling by the regime forces renewed targeting areas in the Eastern Ghouta of Damascus, and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored that the regime forces fired about 10 missiles believed to be ground-to-ground, on areas in Harasta city, and the warplanes carried out 10 raids on areas in Harasta city, while the warplanes targeted areas in Arbin city by 6 raids which resulted in the death of 2 persons and the injury of 10 others with varying severity, and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned that 7 citizens were injured due to shelling by the regime forces on areas in Hosh Al-Salihiyah village in Al-Marj area, and the regime forces also shelled areas in Al-Nashabiyah town by a missile believed to be ground-to-ground and an artillery shell, while the regime forces shelled this dawn areas in Douma city, which injured 21 persons at least including 6 children and 6 citizen women, in which the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published this morning that the regime forces fired 9 missiles just before 6 o’clock in the morning Monday the 22nd of January 2018, on Douma city, which left a large number of injuries, in which the SOHR documented the injury of 21 persons at least including children and citizen women in the shelling, and local and medical sources accused the regime forces of using gases in the shelling which caused asphyxiation in the places where the shells fell, and a bad smell was also noticed after the shelling, the sources said that it caused by the rocket shelling on the city.

And with the death of more citizens, the death toll increases to 221 citizens including 57 children and 40 citizen women, the number of people who were killed since the 29th of December 2017 as a result of targeting the Eastern Ghouta by hundreds of raids and hundreds of artillery and rocket strikes, and the casualties are 131 citizens including 41 children, 31 citizen women and a male nurse, they were killed in raids by the warplanes on areas in Harasta city controlled by the Islamic movement of Ahrar Al-Sham and raids on Madyara town as well as the cities of Saqba, Hamuriya, Douma and Arbin, and 90 citizens including 16 children and 9 citizen women and 2 male nurses were killed by artillery and rocket shelling targeted areas in Beit Sawa town, the cities of Harasta, Hamuriya, Douma and Arbin as well as the towns of Kafr Batna, Mesraba, Al-Nashabiyah, Otaya and Mesraba.
