Ongoing fighting in Abu Al-Duhur area in the eastern countryside of Idlib and the regime forces seek with their allies to impose their full control over the area
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned that the regime forces backed by armed militiamen loyal to them of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities, are continuing their advancement to impose their full control over Abu Al-Duhur located to the west of Abu Al-Duhur Military Airbase, in the eastern section of Idlib countryside, to expand their scope of control in the area, and the Syrian Observatory monitored intensive shelling by the regime forces on areas in Idlib countryside and Abu Al-Duhur area, while the violent clashes are still continuing between the regime forces backed by armed militiamen loyal to them of Syrian, Arab and Asian nationalities against Hayyaat Tahrir al-Sham, the Islamic Party of Turkestan and the rebel and Islamic factions, and confirmed information about human losses.
And violent clashes took place yesterday the both parties in areas in the vicinity of Abu Duhur military air base following an attack by fighters of the Turkistan Islamic parties, the Hayaat and the factions in an attempt by them to regain control over the airport, after more than 48 hours of losing it, and the control of the air base by the regime forces came 2 years and half after losing it, and the violent clashes were accompanied by 2 car bombs in the area, while the clashes coincided with an exchange of targeting between both parties, and the SOHR learned that violent clashes coincided with heavy and violent shelling, killing at least 24 members of the regime forces and their allies of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities, and injuring others with different severity, while Tahrir Al-Sham, Turkestan Islamic Party and the factions managed to advance to the western and southwestern outskirts of the air base and the factions are trying to besiege the regime forces inside it or force them to withdraw through advancing in the vicinity of the base and monitor it from high hills surrounding it.
And the SOHR published two days ago that the battles that took place between Hayaat Tahrir Al-Sham, Islamic Turkestan, Nood Al-Din Al-Zeinky Movement, Jaysh Al-Ahrar, Al-Sham Corps, Jaysh Al-Izza, Free Jaysh Idlib, Jaysh Al-Nokhaba, Al-Jaysh Al-Thani, Jaysh Al-Nasr, Ahrar Al-Sham Islamic Movement, against the regime forces and their allied militiamen of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities, caused human losses in the ranks of both parties, where the SOHR documented the death of 518 fighters and members who were killed within 28 members of the violent battles that took place in areas northeast of Hama and the countryside of Idlib and Aleppo. They are 221 members of the regime forces and their allied militiamen of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities including at least 20 officers, while 297 fighters of the rebel and Islamic factions, Hayaat Tahrir Al-Sham, Turkestan Islamic Party, including at least 103 fighters of non-Syrian nationalities of Hayaat Tahrir Al-Sham and Turkestan Islamic Party, and hundreds of both parties were inured with different severity, due to the artillery and aerial shelling, clashes and an exchange of targeting on the clash areas, while the SOHR monitored the regime forces backed by their allied militiamen of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities controlling at least 292 villages and towns, the largest number of them were located in Aleppo province, then Idlib and Hama, where the regime forces controlled the air base of Abu Duhur and began to sweep it in order to use to as military base, which the regime forces lost their control over it in the 1st third of September 2015, following a sudden attack by Hayaat Tahir Al-Sham and the factions in the area, making use of the bad weather and sand storm that hit the province of Idlib at that time, where the regime forces lost their last positions in the province of Idlib, and at that time they only controlled the towns of Kafria and Foua, which are mostly inhabited by Shiite people, and controlled by the National Defense Forces and Popular Committees. It is noteworthy that Abu Duhur has been besieged for more than 2 years by Nusra Front and the Islamic factions until they controlled it in 2015, and the air base was out of services and the regime forces stationed there and the warplanes were not able to implement any military operation out of it.
