In conjunction with extracting more bodies from the rubble of the destruction…the Turkish warplanes are continuing their shelling to villages and places in Afrin area
The Turkish forces focus on taking the control of Raju and Jendires towns west of Afrin area
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has documented since this dawn, the flight of the Turkish warplanes over Afrin area, in the north-western section of Aleppo province, where the warplanes carried out several raids on the villages of Arab Wayran and Deir Sawwan in the north-eastern countryside of Afrin, and the villages of Khalta and Jelbara in the south-eastern countryside of Afrin, while they targeted other areas in Raju and Jendires Townships in the western and the south-western countryside of Afrin, where the area have been witnessing since yesterday dawn, escalation of the bombardment by the Turkish warplanes and helicopters on areas in the countryside of Afrin city, which resulted until now in the death and the injury of tens of the citizens and the displaced people to Afrin area with varying severity, in which the death toll is continuing to increase, as a result of extracting more bodies from the rubble of the destruction caused by the Turkish aerial and the artillery shelling on Afrin countryside, as the SOHR has documented since the start of the “Olive Branch” Operation on the 20thof January 2018, and until today morning the 30th of January 2018, the death of 67 Syrian citizens of the Kurds, Arabs and Armenians including 20 children and 12 citizen women, who live in Afrin area or displaced to it during the recent years, while the number of casualties may increase because of the presence of serious injuries.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights also monitored violent clashes taking place between the Turkish forces, groups of the Gray wolves, and the rebel and Islamic factions against the YPG and the Self-Defense forces, in areas in hills and heights in Raju and Jendires Townships, and several intersected sources confirmed to the Syrian Observatory that the clashes are concentrated in these two areas in the west and the south-west of Afrin, amid desperate efforts by the Turkish forces which lead the “Olive Branch” Operation, to achieve advancement and reach one of these two towns -Raju or Jendires- and take the control of them, and the clashes in the clash areas between the both parties, are accompanied by intensive and exchange of targeting and flight of helicopters over the area, while the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has documented the fall of more human losses in the both conflicting parties, in which it has increased to 85 at least, the number of the fighters of the YPG and the Self-Defense forces who were killed in the aerial, rocket and artillery shelling, clashes and targeting in Afrin area, while it has increased to 81 at least, the number of the members of the rebel and Islamic factions who were killed clashes and targeting, in addition to 9 soldiers of the Turkish forces, where the YPG still have 4 bodies of them, and the clashes between them resulted in the fall of tens of injuries, captives and missing people in the ranks of the both parties, and the number of casualties may increase because of the presence of serious injuries, and there are information about more human losses in the ranks of the both parties.
The SOHR also published yesterday that that Turkish warplanes carried out raids on Monday the 29th of January on Deir Meshmesh archeological area in southeast of Afrin, and the area of Al-Nabi Hori in the northeast of Afrin, and also carried out raids on Ein Dara archeological area in south of Afrin, and the airstrikes caused material damage to the area of Al-Nabi Hori and Deir Messhmesh, while it caused material damage to the archeological site of Ein Dara, and the targeting of the archeological sites by the Turkish warplanes, caused rage among locals, who accused the Turkish forces of an attempt to eliminate the archeological sites that represent the civilizations in the area of Afrin, in which the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored that airstrikes have been targeting since after the midnight of Sunday – Monday, places in the vicinity of Maydanki Dam “the 17th of Nisan Dam”, which is located about 10 km to the left of Afrin city, amid fears of targeting the Dam and destroying it by the Turkish warplanes which target it for the third time in 10 days of the “Olive Branch” Operation announced by Turkey against Afrin, and the Syrian Observatory also monitored raids targeting Kadah village in Raju Township west of Afrin, the villages of Turmish and Khalila in Sheikh Hadid Township, the villages of Burj Suleiman, Deir Mishmish, Koblah, Burj Hayder and another village in Shirawa Township, and Baqja village in Bulbula Township, amid the continuation of warplanes to fly over Afrin city and its countryside, and the airstrikes caused more damage to the property of the citizens, and information was reported about injuries due to the bombardment.
