After the ancient sites and Midanki Dam, the Turkish forces renew the targeting on vital facilities in Afrin and shell a water purification station a few kilometers away of the city
The Turkish forces continue the “Olive Branch” Operations which aims to control Afrin area, and continue targeting the vital facilities and important areas in Afrin which is controlled by YPG, and located in the northwest of Aleppo Province, where the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored on Tuesday the 7th of February 2018 that the Turkish Forces targeted the water purification station, which is located in Mateen area about 9 kilometers northeast of Afrin city, causing material damage to the station and putting it in danger, as well as the process of supplying water for hundreds of thousands of citizens and displaced people living in Afrin area, this shelling comes after a series of targeting operations of against Midanki dam area aka “17th April Dam” by the Turkish forces and warplanes, which caused material damage, which would flood large spaces of Afrin area in the case of being directly bombed by the Turkish forces after they targeted its vicinity during the past few days by 3 rounds of bombardment, in addition to targeting archeological sites in the areas of Ein Dara, Al-Nabi Hori and Deir Meshmesh in the south and the south-east of Afrin and caused great material damage to Ein Dara area, and this intensive shelling on Afrin area which is almost completely besieged, and which has only one corridor with the control areas of the regime forces and the YPG-held areas in Aleppo through the towns of Nubl and Al-Zahraa which are controlled by the regime forces and gunmen loyal to them, which resulted in dropping and worsening the humanitarian situation of the residents of Afrin area and other hundreds of thousands of the displaced people who have been displaced to it in the past months and years, from the Syrian provinces, in which the residents suffer from the start of the decline in alimentary aid, supplies, medicine and foodstuffs, especially among the displaced people who have nothing except the aid distributed to them regularly.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored today artillery shelling by the Turkish forces targeted places in the areas of Raju, Jendires and nearby villages, which caused material damage but no information about casualties, in conjunction with clashes between the Turkish Forces and the rebel and Islamic factions against YPG and the Self-Defense Forces, in an attempt by “Olive Branch” Operation to achieve more advancement in the area, after they managed in the last days to advance and control Bulbula town and 15 villages, they are: ((Kanye, Khalilah in Sheikh Hadid Township in the west of Afrin, the villages of Mamlu Oshagli, Amra, Ali Beska, Edmanli in Rajo Township in the western countryside of Afrin, Shenkali village in the north-west of Afrin, and the villages of Bekah, Alikar, Abudan, Za’rah, Daru, Qarnah in the northern countryside of Afrin, and Jabal Barsaya – Qastal Jandu in the north-eastern countryside of Afrin))
