Within the implementation of the agreement reached between the Kurdish Units and the regime authorities, forces affiliated to the Syrian regime starts to enter Afrin area

Aleppo province – The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights:: the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned that the agreement, reached between the Kurdish People’s Protection Units and the regime forces, is being implemented, which stipulated that the regime forces enter to Afrin area, where the SOHR monitored the regime forces began to enter Afrin area in the northwestern countryside of Aleppo, which witnesses since the 20th of Janaury 2018, an attack by the Turkish forces and the rebel and Islamic factions operating in “Olive Branch” Operation Forces, through which they managed to control about 14% of the villages of Afrin in one month, where they controlled so fara town and 49 villages and managed to control about 50 km of the northern borderline of Afrin with the Turkish – Syrian borders. They also controlled the districts of Jandyaras, Raju, Sheikh Hadeed, in the western part of Afrin countryside.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored the entry of vehicles loaded with weapons and heavy and medium machine guns, in addition to armored vehicles, carrying tens of soldiers and members, within the implementation of the agreement reached between the regime forces and the Kurdish forces, which allows the regime forces to be deployed in the area of Afrin and the contact lines with “Olive Branch” operation forces. It noteworthy that the SOHR published  day before yesterday that an agreement was reached  between the YPG and the regime forces on deploying members of the regime forces on the borders of Afrin and Turkey, within the implementation of agreement to stop the Turkish infiltration and stop the “Olive Branch” operation forces which aims to control Afrin area and expel the Kurdish forces from it.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published today that it monitored today, Thursday, that the Turkish forces and their allied Syrian rebel and Islamic opposition factions, completed to unite their controlled areas on the northern border line of Afrin with Turkey, to impose their control over about 50 km of this border, and to expand their control to more than 150 km from the west of the Euphrates River to Shenkal area in the north-west of Afrin, and this control came after the Turkish forces expanded their control and after they managed to take the control of Arab Wayran area separates between Jabal Barsaya and the rest of the controlled areas of the forces of the “Olive Branch” Operation on the northern border line of Afrin with Turkey, expanding the control of the Turkish forces and their allied factions participating in the operation, to 45 villages at least as well as Bulbula town, and the Turkish forces are fighting desperately to impose their control over the entire border line between Afrin, Iskenderun and Turkey. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored the human losses caused by aerial, artillery and rocket shelling in which the SOHR has documented since the 20th of January 2018, the death of 112 Syrian citizens of the Kurds, Arabs and Armenians, of the residents of Afrin city or have displaced to it, including 23 children and 17 citizen women, as the number of casualties has increased after documenting casualties who were killed during the second week of shelling of Afrin, and extracting more bodies under the rubble of the destruction caused by the heavy shelling on the area, while tens others were injured with varying severity, some of them have amputated limbs and permanent disabilities, and the numbers of human losses have also escalated in the ranks of the both conflicting parties, where it has increased to 244, the number of the members of the forces of the “Olive Branch” Operation who have been killed in this operation since it was launched on the 20th of January 2018, they are 39 casualties of the Turkish forces, and 205 fighters of the Syrian rebel and Islamic opposition factions, while it has increased to 219 at least, the number of the fighters of the YPG and the Self-Defense forces who were killed in these military operations, the aerial and artillery shelling and the targeting, while tens of members of the both parties were injured with varying severity, which may raise the death toll even more.
