As a revenge for the Eastern Ghouta and despite the Syrian South Truce… the factions operating in Daraa escalate their targeting to the regime-held areas in Daraa city and Izra’a area

Daraa Province – The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: the intensive fall of shelling is continuing by the factions which target neighborhoods controlled by the regime forces and the area of the security square in Daraa city, in addition to targeting Izra’a city controlled by the regime forces in Daraa countryside, where the factions targeted the both cities by more than 27 rocket shells until now, which resulted in the fall of injuries, which the regime forces shelled again areas in Daraa Al-Balad in Daraa city, and the shelling also targeted places in the towns of Da’el and Al-Harak in Daraa countryside, which resulted in the death of a citizen woman in Da’el, documenting new violations in light of this escalation by the both parties, to the American – Russian – Jordanian agreement, applied since the 9th of July 2017, while sorces suggested that these intensive targeting comes as a preparation for a military operation in the northern countryside of Daraa and Daraa city, despite the truce lasting for more than 7 months, as a revenge for the Eastern Ghouta of Damascus which is witnessing intensive shelling which left hundreds of casualties and wounded.

It is noteworthy that the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published on the 9th of July 2017, that the regional-international agreement went into effect in three provinces of southern Syria, namely Daraa, Al-Quneitra and Al-Suwaidaa, at 12 pm today, the 9th of July 2017. The SOHR has observed so far that calm is prevailing the provinces of southern Syria and no violations of the truce have been reported so far although the few moments that preceded its implementation witnessed the firing of several shells by the regime forces on faction-controlled areas in Daraa but no casualties have been reported so far.

 

This American-Russian-Jordanian agreement that includes three provinces of southern Syria came after violent battles during the last few weeks between the factions active there and the regime forces and their allied militiamen. where in al-Suwaidaa province there are Jaysh al-Asha’er, Ahmad al-Abdu Forces and Jaysh Usud al-Sharqiyyah, while the southern factions which supported by regional and international parties in Daraa Province, while in Al-Quneitra Province there are Jabhat Thowwar Syria, al-Ezz Brigades and Al-Furqan Brigades, while in Yarmouk Basin area in the western countryside of Daraa is controlled by Jaysh Khalid Ibn al-Walid who swore allegiance to the “Islamic State” Organization.
