The Eastern Ghouta is still under vicious attack by the regime and its allies and the number of civilian casualties and injured people in the recent five days increases to more than 2500
Rif Dimashq province – The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights:: areas in the besieged Eastern Ghouta are still being shelled within the ongoing escalation for the fifth day on a row, where the SOHR monitored airstrikes targeting areas in Misraba town, killing 2 citizens, and the helicopters shelled two barrel bombs on areas in Saqba city, while the regime forces fired missiles at areas in the city of Hamuriyah, injuring about 30 citizens, including women and children, and the shelling of barrel bombs by the helicopters on areas in Hosh Al-Salhiyah town injured 10 citizens, in conjunction with similar shelling on areas in Otaya town, while the regime forces fired missiles at areas in the towns of Al-Nashabiya, Otaya and Hazrama, the warplanes also shelled areas in Jisreen town, killing a young man, in conjunction with firing more than 53 rocket shells. The warplanes also targeted areas in Arbin city, injuring 9 citizens, and the regime’s helicopters dropped two barrel bombs at areas in Douma city, and the warplanes carried out a raid targeting areas in Kafrbatna town, killing 5 citizens and injuring more than 32 others, while the regime’s helicopters dropped 6 barrel bombs on areas in Hamuriyah city, injuring 25 civilian with different severity, including women and children, and the aerial shelling on areas in Arbin city resulted in the death of 5 citizens, while 6 dead bodies of citizens including a child and a woman were recovered from under the rubble caused by the aerial and ground shelling on the Eastern Ghouta.
With more civilians getting killed and more dead bodies recovered from under the rubble caused by the aerial, missile, artillery shelling on the Eastern Ghouta, it has increased to 403 including 95 children and 61 women, the number of martyrs killed by the aerial and ground shelling since Sunday evening the 18th of February 2018, and the casualties are: 46 citizens including 7 children and 7 citizen women who were killed in bombardment by warplanes on areas in Aftaris town and Douma city, 85 citizens including 20 children and 12 women, were killed on Wednesday in bombardment by helicopters by explosive barrels on Kafr Batna town and airstrikes on Jesrin town and raids on Saqba, 128 citizens including 29 children and 16 women were killed on Tuesday, in the shelling on the areas of Nashabiyah, Otaya, Arbin, Zamalka Mesraba, Hamuriya, Saqba and Ash’ari, 127 citizens including 34 children and 23 women were killed on Monday, in the aerial and ground bombardment on Hamuriya, Beit Sawa and Saqba, Douma , Mesraba, Otaya, Nashabiyah, Zamalka, Aftries, KafrBatna, Al-Shifonyyah and Jesrin, 17 citizens including 5 children and 3 women were killed on the evening of Sunday, in aerial, missile and artillery bombardments on Saqba, Mesraba, Otaya and Ashari area.
Also the renewed bombardment resulted in increasing the number of wounded to more than 2116 civilians, while there are tens of missing people under the rubble caused by the rocket, artillery and aerial shelling on the cities and town in the Eastern Ghouta, which may increase the death toll, in addition to the presence of a large number of injuries, some of them have serious injuries, amid inability of the medical staff to relieve all medical cases, and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored that the bombardment of the warplanes and helicopters as well as the intensive shelling on the Eastern Ghouta, resulted in getting 10 hospitals and medical points out of service as a result of their targeting in Saqba, Douma, Beit Sawa, Jisrayn, Arbin and other areas in the Eastern Ghouta, to decrease the ability of medical capacity even more, and crowd the places with the wounded who flock as a result of heavy and ongoing shelling by the regime forces, led by the Brigadier Suhail Al-Hassan, which paves the way for a wide military operation in the Eastern Ghouta, through which the regime forces aim to regain the control of it.
