The besieged Eastern Ghouta has been witnessing since today morning targeting by 107 airstrikes, barrel bombes, shells and missiles killing 6 civilian martyrs and injuring 26 others before, during and after the truce
Rif Dimashq province – The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: the regime forces escalated their artillery and missile shelling on the Eastern Ghouta of Damascus, following a series of airstrikes interrupted and followed the “humanitarian” truce in the Ghouta, where the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored shelling by the regime forces by at least 20 missiles, believed to be ground-to-ground at areas in the city of Harasta and its outskirts, in addition to firing more than 50 artillery shells. The warplanes carried out 5 airstrikes targeting areas in the town of Otaya and its outskirts, while the regime forces opened their heavy machine gun fire at areas in Douma city, killing a citizen, and raising the death toll to 6 martyrs including 2 children and a woman who were documented by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. The martyrs are a man who was killed today at 5:30 pm as result of targeting Douma city by heavy machine guns of the regime forces, a child was killed at 3:00 pm as result of shelling by warplanes on Mesraba town after the end of Putin’s humanitarian truce, a man and a child were killed as result of artillery shelling of the regime forces on Jesrin town at around 1 pm today during the period of the truce, and a man was killed before the beginning of the truce as result of shelling by the regime forces on areas at the outskirts of Douma city at around 8:30 am, a woman died at around 8 am as result of the collapse of her house in Douma city before the truce comes into effect, as the house was partially damaged due to previous shelling on the city.
At least 26 people were injured with different severity, and the death toll is expected to increase due to the presence of injured people in serious conditions. The SOHR also monitored the recovery of 5 dead bodies of citizens including 2 children and a woman who were killed in previous shelling of warplanes on the area located between Mesraba and Beit Sawa on Monday.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights documented today 107 airstrikes, barrel bombs, artillery shells and missile targeting the Eastern Ghouta of Damascus, where the warplanes carried out at least 23 airstrikes on Douma, Harasta, Mesraba, Zamalka, KafrBatna, Hosh Al-Dawahra, Al-Aftries, while the helicopters dropped 4 barrel bombs on Al-Shifonyyah, and the regime forces fired 20 missiles, believed to be ground-to-ground at areas in the city of Harasta, while at least 60 shells were fired by the regime forces targeting the cities of Douma, Harasta and the towns of Mesraba and Jesrin and the farms located between Douma and Harasta, causing material damage to the properties of the citizens.
Raising to 572 citizens including 143 children and 85 women, the number of the civilian casualties who have been killed by the aerial, rocket and artillery shelling and bombardment by explosive barrels on the Eastern Ghouta, since Sunday evening the 18th of February 2018, and the casualties are: 6 citizens including 2 children and a woman who were killed in aerial and artillery shelling on Mesraba, Jesrin and Douma, 27 citizens including 9 children and 5 women who were killed on Monday in the aerial and rocket shelling on Douma and Harasta, 14 citizens including 4 children under the age of eighteen and 3 women were killed today, Sunday, in shelling by the regime forces and bombardment by warplanes on areas in Douma, al-Shifonyyah, Saqba, Beit Sawa, Hammuriyyeh and al-Rihan, and 45 citizens including 8 children under the age of eighteen, and 9 women were killed on Saturday by bombardment by warplanes on Harasta, Douma, Zamalka, Beit Sawa and Al-Shifonyyah, 43 citizens including 18 children and 4 women were killed on Friday, 73 citizens including 9 children and 8 citizen women who were killed on Thursday in bombardment by warplanes on areas in Mesraba and Aftries towns and Douma and Arbin cities, 87 citizens including 21 children and 12 women, were killed on Wednesday in bombardment by helicopters by explosive barrels on Kafr Batna town and airstrikes on Jesrin town and raids on Saqba, 133 citizens including 33 children and 17 women were killed on Tuesday, in the shelling on the areas of Nashabiyah, Otaya, Arbin, Zamalka Mesraba, Hamuriya, Saqba and Ash’ari, 127 citizens including 34 children and 23 women were killed on Monday, in the aerial and ground bombardment on Hamuriya, Beit Sawa and Saqba, Douma , Mesraba, Otaya, Nashabiyah, Zamalka, Aftries, KafrBatna, Al-Shifonyyah and Jesrin, 17 citizens including 5 children and 3 women were killed on the evening of Sunday, while the aerial and artillery shelling resulted in the fall of hundreds of injuries, some of them are still in serious cases, which may raise the death toll.
