The regime forces achieve a new advancement in the Eastern Ghouta and the strikes continue intensively causing more casualties and raise the death toll to about 815 civilians in 18 days
Rif Dimashq Province, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: areas in the south and middle of the factions’ controlled areas in the Eastern Ghouta are witnessing the continuation of military operations, where the regime forces continue this attempts to take more areas at the expense of both factions of Jaysh al-Islam and Rahman Corps, where the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored the continuation of clashes between both parties at a violent pace in conjunction with the continued aerial and missile shelling, and information about more casualties, and the Syrian Observatory monitored the regime forces achieving a new advancement in the area, enabled them to control some farms in the vicinity of Al-Rihan area which is next to al-Shifonyyah, and in the same context, the aerial and missile shelling continue on areas in the Eastern Ghouta, where the warplanes carried out more than 20 raids on places in the towns of Saqba, KafrBatna, Hazza, Jesrin, Arbin, Zamalka and Ein Tarma, which injured more than 30 persons, also it rose to 2 (a woman and a ma), the number of persons who were killed in the aerial bombardment on Saqba town, while 2 other persons were killed in bombardment by warplanes on Mesraba town, raising to 813, the number of Syrian civilians who were killed in the Eastern Ghouta, including 179 children and 110 women, who have been killed by the aerial, rocket and artillery shelling on the cities and towns of Douma, Harasta, Arbin, Zamalka, Hamouriyah, Jesrin, Kafr Batna, Hazza, Ash’ari, Nashabiyah, Aftries, Otaya, Al-Shifonyyah, Al-Marj area, Mesraba, Madyara, Beit Sawa, and other areas in the besieged Ghouta of Damascus, and the shelling during this period which completed 2 weeks since it started, resulted in the injury of more than 4070 citizens including hundreds of children and citizen women with varying severity, some of them have permanent disabilities, while the bodies of tens of citizens are still under the rubble of destruction caused by the aerial, rocket and artillery shelling by the regime forces on the Eastern Ghouta of Damascus, and the total death toll documented by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, includes 281 casualties including 42 children and 34 women who were killed and documented by the SOHR after the resolution of the UNSC, which failed again to stop the killing of the people of the Eastern Ghouta, and the shelling resulted in the fall of hundreds of wounded, where the number of casualties may increase because of the presence of serious injuries, amid the tragic humanitarian situation of the people of Ghouta, who intersected sources confirmed to the Syrian Observatory that they do not leave the shelters for fear of the intensive shelling, amid inability of the medical staff to relieve all medical cases.
The Syrian Observatory published hours ago that the military operations in the Eastern Ghouta of Damascus are continuing for the 11th consecutive day, since they were launched on the 25th of February 2018, where the violent clashes are continuing, between Al-Rahman Corps and Jaysh Al-Islam against the regime forces backed by armed militiamen loyal to them of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities, in areas in the middle and south of the factions’ controlled areas in the Eastern Ghouta of Damascus, within the ongoing efforts by the regime forces and their allies under a Russian command, to control more areas, where the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored new advancement achieved by the regime forces represented by taking the control of the eastern and southern farms of Mesraba, reaching to the extension of the town as well as taking the control of the entire farms of Beit Sawa and advancing into the vicinity of the town, and with this advancement, the regime forces became in control of parts of Mesraba and Beit Sawa by firearm, in conjunction with advancement and clashes in the vicinity of Jisrayn town, while this new advancement came under an intensive aerial and rocket cover since dawn, represented by carrying out more than 157 airstrikes by warplanes and helicopters, with intensive shelling by tens of missiles and artillery and rocket shells by the regime force.
These violent clashes accompanied by ambushes, exchange of targeting, mine explosions and intensive shelling, resulted in increasing the number of human losses in the ranks of the conflicting parties in the Eastern Ghouta of Damascus, raising to 104 at least including several officers and a local commander in the “Tiger’s” forces, the number of the members of the regime forces and gunmen loyal to them whose death has been documented by the Syrian Observatory until now during the clashes of the Eastern Ghouta, and the SOHR also documented the death of 95 fighters at least of Jaysh Al-Islam who have been killed since the 25th of February 2018, until now.
