The regime forces fail for more than 72 hours to reach the Vehicle Department and the death of more than 146 of their members during 2 weeks of clashes in the Eastern Ghouta

The Eastern Ghouta of Damascus witnessed during the past night, shelling by tens of rocket shells which targeted areas in Arbin city in the Eastern Ghouta of Damascus, which caused further material damage to the property of the citizens, while the regime’s helicopters bombed areas in Douma city today morning, which resulted in the injury of 12 persons at least, while the warplanes targeted Harasta area and other places in the Eastern Ghouta of Damascus by several raids, which caused material damage, without information about casualties, while the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights documented that the number of people killed yesterday increased to 18 casualties including 4 children and 4 citizen women, they are 6 casualties killed in raids by warplanes on Jisrayn town, 9 citizens including 4 children, 3 women killed in a massacre carried out by the helicopter in Mesraba town, and 3 citizens they are: a woman killed as a result of shelling by a shell which targeted Arbin city, a young man killed in Madyara after being shot by a sniper of the regime forces, and a citizen died affected by the injury he had in the bombardment by the warplanes on areas in Douma city.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored that the regime forces failed to take the control of Madyara town which is the last town separating them from reaching with their allies, the Vehicle Department linked with the capital Damascus, although they reached the vicinity of the town 72 hours ago, where the past 48 hours witnessed counter attacks by Al-Rahman Corps and the factions of the Eastern Ghouta, in an attempt to send the regime forces away the town and to increase the distance between them and the Vehicle Department, and the Syrian Observatory learned that these attacks resulted in the fall of more human losses in the ranks of the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities, raising to 146 including officers, the number of the members of the regime forces who have been killed during 2 weeks of the military operations witnessed in the Eastern Ghouta of Damascus, since the attack of the regime forces led by Russian officers and military advisers on the 25th of February 2018,and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published on the 7th of March 2018, that the regime forces with this advancement have become about 1.3 km away of Vehicle Department which is connected with the capital Damascus, and these forces have managed to control 52% of the factions’ controlled areas in the Eastern Ghouta, and they managed to split the Eastern Ghouta of Damascus into 2 parts through the control and firearm-control of the rest of distance between the regime forces at the outskirts of Madyara, the 2 parts: one in the north includes the cities of Douma, Harasta, and the Al-Rihan farms with Mesraba, and the other one in the south and includes the towns and cities of Arbin, Zamalka, Hamouriyah, Saqba, KafrBatna, Ein Tarma and Aftries, and since the beginning of their attack on the 25th of February 2018; the regime forces have taken control of Hosh of al-Dawahra, Tal Farzat, Hazrma, al-Shifonyyah, parts of Al-Rihan farms, Regiment 274, Air Defense Regiment, Ashari, Beit Sawa, Jesrin farms and Hamouriyah farms.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored that the number of casualties has increased to 960 Syrian civilians in the Eastern Ghouta, including 199 children and 132 women, who have been killed by the aerial, rocket and artillery shelling on the cities and towns of Douma, Harasta, Arbin, Zamalka, Hamouriyah, Jesrin, Kafr Batna, Hazza, Ash’ari, Nashabiyah, Aftries, Otaya, Al-Shifonyyah, Al-Marj area, Mesraba, Madyara, Beit Sawa, and other areas in the besieged Ghouta of Damascus, and the shelling during this period which completed 2 weeks since it started, resulted in the injury of more than 4332 citizens including hundreds of children and citizen women with varying severity, some of them have permanent disabilities, while the bodies of tens of citizens are still under the rubble of destruction caused by the aerial, rocket and artillery shelling by the regime forces on the Eastern Ghouta of Damascus, and the total death toll documented by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, includes 428 casualties including 58 children and 49 women who were killed and documented by the SOHR after the resolution of the UNSC, which failed again to stop the killing of the people of the Eastern Ghouta, and the shelling resulted in the fall of hundreds of wounded, where the number of casualties may increase because of the presence of serious injuries, amid the tragic humanitarian situation of the people of Ghouta, who intersected sources confirmed to the Syrian Observatory that they do not leave the shelters for fear of the intensive shelling, amid inability of the medical staff to relieve all medical cases.
