After the death of about 1650 citizens in the shelling of the Russian and the regime forces on it…the Eastern Ghouta witnesses the largest organized displacement in Syria during which more than 144 thousand persons have been displaced
The implementation of the agreement of Jobar – Zamalaka – Arbin is still continuing until now, where the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored the displacement of the citizens and fighters of the Eastern Ghouta, to the Syrian North and to shelters, where the residents of Douma city head to the regime’s controlled areas, while those who stayed in the controlled areas of Al-Rahman Corps in Jobar, Zamalaka and Arbin head to the Syrian North, and with the continuation of the exit of the citizens and the fighters with their families from the Eastern Ghouta of Damascus, and the escalated number of the people displaced from it, the Eastern Ghouta has witnessed the largest organized displacement in Syria since the beginning of the Syrian revaluation and the start of the demographic change and displacement from the Syrian territories.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored until now, the displacement of 144 thousand persons from the Eastern Ghouta of Damascus, even to the shelters in the regime’s controlled areas in the vicinity of the Eastern Ghouta and in Rif Dimashq, or to the Syrian North, from the cities of Harasta, Zamalka and Arbin, including more than 9500 fighters of the Islamic factions, and about 40 thousand citizens are added to the total number of the displaced people to the regime’s controlled areas and the Syrian North, of who stayed in the areas which the regime forces have advanced into in the Eastern Ghouta, including about 1000 fighters of the factions who turned into popular committees belong to the regime.
The Syrian observatory has documented the death of 1644 citizens including 344 children and 213 women, who have been killed since the 18th of February 2018, by the aerial, rocket and artillery shelling on the cities and towns of Douma, Harasta, Arbin, Zamalka, Hamouriyah, Jesrin, Kafr Batna, Hazza, Ash’ari, Nashabiyah, Aftries, Otaya, Al-Shifonyyah, Al-Marj area, Mesraba, Madyara, Beit Sawa, and other areas in the besieged Ghouta of Damascus, resulted in the injury of more than 5420 citizens including hundreds of children and citizen women with varying severity, some of them have permanent disabilities, while the bodies of tens of citizens are still under the rubble of destruction caused by the aerial, rocket and artillery shelling by the regime forces on the Eastern Ghouta of Damascus, and the total death toll documented by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, includes 1112 casualties including 203 children and 130 women who were killed and documented by the SOHR after the resolution of the UNSC, which failed again to stop the killing of the people of the Eastern Ghouta, and the shelling resulted in the fall of hundreds of wounded, where the number of casualties may increase because of the presence of serious injuries.
And the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has documented since the 25th of February 2018, and as a result of the violent clashes, the death of tens of members of the regime forces and their allies and of the Islamic factions operating in the Eastern Ghouta, where the Syrian Observatory documented that the number of the members of the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them has increased to 520 at least, including 63 members at least of non-Syrian nationalities, and the total death toll includes more than 94 officers of different ranks from lieutenants to brigadiers, while it has increased to 405 at least, the number of the fighters of Al-Rahman Corps, Jaysh Al-Islam, Ahrar Al-Sham Islamic movement and Hayyaat Tahrir al-Sham, who have been killed since the start of fighting on the 25th of February 2018, most of them are of the fighters of Al-Rahman Corps, and the SOHR also learned that there are tens of missing people and injuries in the ranks of the both parties.
And the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has called on the residents of the Eastern Ghouta of Damascus, to stay in their cities and towns, after the displacement of tens of thousands of people from the Eastern Ghouta of Damascus, in conjunction with killing and injuring more than 7000 citizens in 34 successive days by the regime forces and Russia by the aerial, rocket and artillery strikes, on condition that the UN completely secure their stay, and provide guarantees that prevent the implementation of the Turkish-Russian agreement, leads to a simultaneous demographic change in both Eastern Ghouta of Damascus and Afrin, that the Russian occupation forces have to secure the area from mines and planted and unexploded bombs, to ensure the safety of the people in order to preserve their lives and for fear of the death of more citizens in the Eastern Ghouta which witnessed killing in all forms from killing by shells until the death due to starvation and disease.
