Asayish Forces continue to detain two prominent Kurdish commanders and rage the resentment among their supporters amid demands to release them immediately

The Kurdish Internal Security Forces (Asayish) are continuing to detain 2 commanders of two political parties operating in Al-Hasakah province, and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned that Asayish Forces are still continuing to arrest the prominent Kurdish politician, Faisal Yousef, who is the general coordinator of the Kurdish Reform Movement, and a member of the Presidential Committee of the Kurdish National Council, since the 2nd of April 2018, in addition to the continued detention of the commander, Nemmat Dawood, who is the secretary of the Kurdish Democratic Equality Party in Syria since the 13th of April 2018, after they were both arrested from their homes in al-Qameshly city, on the Turkish – Syrian border.

These arrests as well as some previous arrests against other commanders and members of active Kurdish parties operating in the area by the Kurdish Internal Security Forces, raged resentment of the members of the both political parties and their supporters, amid calls to release them as soon as possible, and we in the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights call on Asayish Forces and those who are in charge of the democratic self-management of Al-Jazira Province, to do their utmost efforts to release the prominent politician Faisal Yousef immediately, and to release all the detained members of the parties held in the detention centers of Asayish, and we also call for the release of all those arrested as a result of intellectual conflict against them, and we call on the Kurdish forces to stop to carry out arrests against those who oppose their plans, vision or ideas.
